Chapter Twenty Nine

There was this blonde bimbo in the receptionist desk that was giving me a hard time, but the second Kat started yelling and speaking in her accent, with no filter by the way, the girl was too scared to keep playing games with me.

She jumped back, "okay, he's in room 204."

We ran past her and down the hall looking for 204,

I was getting close.

"Over here Rory, he's over here!"

I ran towards Kat and into the room that kept Colton.

Tubes were plugged up to him, wires and ventilators were beeping his heart rate.

"Ah, he has new visitors," a doctor walked in,

"How's he been doing doc?" Kat asked,

"He hasn't shown any progress." I moved closer to the bed and looked down at him. His head was bandaged up, he had a black eye and a busted lip. "We are giving him 2 more days and if there is still no sign of improvement we have to pull the plug!"

"2 more days? Doc, I know people have been on these things for years. Why are you only giving him 3 weeks?"

"Listen ma'am, we have sacristy when it comes to rooms. We get a lot of patients everyday but we are running low on rooms!"

"You have no authority to pul the plug!" Kat stepped up to him so they were face to face, "and if you do, I will sue this hospital, your boss, the nurses that are working under you and you yourself!"

She wasn't even talking to me and I felt a bit intimidated.

I tune them out and grab Colton's hand. Seeing him like this broke my heart and the little Aurora that was his best friend came to surface, "Colton, you have to wake up for me now." Nothing happened. "Colt please! You can't do this to me! I was coming back, I swear I was!" The beeping went a little faster, "Tony? Tony, can you hear me? I know my strong fearless best friend is still in there!"

His beeping was getting stronger. The doctor walked over to me and looked at Colton, "how are you doing that? Everyone talked to him and nothing happened."

"It's called true love doc!" Kat stood at the foot of the bed, "don't you know what true love looks like?"

The doctor scowled at Kat and she smirked at him.

"Tony, squeeze my hand to let me know that you can hear me." We all watched his hand, "come on Tony, I know you can do it!"

"I guess he's too tired..." The doctor started,

Colton's hand squeezed mine and I burst out in laughter.

"Oh my gosh!" I rest my head on his chest, "he's still alive! Now you can't take him off!" The doctor nodded and began to leave, "oh and doc?"

He turned around, "yes?"

"Fire the blonde bimbo behind the desk, you will lose patients with her in the front!"

He nodded and left with a tight smile, "I'll send in a nurse to update his status."

"You going to be okay?" Kat asked, I nodded, "I'm going to pick Alaric up from the airport, he just landed then I'm headed home. Text me when your ready!"

I nodded to her and she left soon after. I turned to Colton's body.

"You scared me dude! Don't ever do that to me, no matter the circumstances. I know I was mad at you but I would like to try and work on our friendship again." I kiss his forehead, "I know you kept that secret for a reason and yes, I'm still mad about that, by the way but I'm more disappointed than mad." I pull a chair close to his bed and lay my head down on the bed, "I don't know why little me is trying to come back up, and let me tell you, she is definitely fighting."
