'So where are we going for the date?'. Jessie wanted it to be something super special. She knew that it probably wouldn't be, but she could still remain hopeful. Maybe he could pull together just for once. She knew now that he could completely feel what she felt.

She waited until it told her that he was done typing and a new message popped onto the screen, 'Ull hav 2 wait'. David grinned to himself on the other end of the conversation. He knew the perfect place to take her. 'But were goin saturday'.

Jessie groaned and muttered, "Of course he won't tell me. Watch it be someplace like Pizza Hut or something just as stupid. Why did I even agree to this?"

'Fine. What time?'.

'Idk. Mabe 7.'

He quickly signed off and she scowled at the screen, "This will be a complete disaster! I just know it!"

She stood up from her laptop and walked out of her room. She saw Charles begin to cross up the stairs and she smiled brightly as he looked up to see her, "Hi, Daddy."

He grunted and walked past her with a small answer back. She bit her lip and watched as he disappeared into his room. "You never have time to even say hi anymore." She turned toward the stairs and had a small feeling of dread as she whispered, "What am I always doing wrong?"

She walked into the living room and plopped down into a love seat, grabbing the remote that was a foot away.

"Hey, Sweetie."

Jessie smiled at Cynthia, "Hi, Mom."

Cynthia chuckled and sat in the chair opposite from her, "I'm surprised that you aren't locked in your room."

Jessie laughed, "Yeah. I know. I just didn't feel like studying."

"You've been doing that a lot lately," Cynthia said softly.

"I know Mom. I just haven't been in the mood lately. Don't worry, I'll get my grades up again." Jessie paused and her eyes went wide when she realized what she had said.

Cynthia froze, "Wait, again? What do you mean?! You've let them drop?!" Cynthia was shocked and angry at this new bit of slipped information.

Jessie flinched and looked down at the remote in her hands to avoid her mother's furious gaze. She had let her grades slip low lately, the urge to be top disappearing. Her habit of perfection went out the window after so many thoughts of David invaded her mind. He was all she could really think about and that annoyed her.

Silence hung in the air as Cynthia watched her daughter for her next move. She sighed when Jessie said nothing, "You're grounded for a week. I want to see you studying more."

"Mom!" Jessie stared in shock at Cynthia, "I can't be grounded for saturday! I have a date that day!"

Cynthia bit her lip. She felt a little excited inside that her daughter would be going on her first date, but she was also upset because she suspected that the date also had something to do with her slipped grades.

"Who is it?" She saw Jessie pause and she growled under her breath, "Who is it, Jessie?"

"David," Jessie almost whispered.

Cynthia's eyes widened and she shook her finger at Jessie, "Then you most definitely will not go. He is a bad influence."

"No he isn't!"

"Are you going to argue with me about this? Word always gets around in the pack and you know it. If he's also the reason for your grades then I don't want you anywhere near him."

"You don't understand! I need to--"

"I don't care! You can't go and that's final!" Cynthia turned away and her footsteps echoed as she left the room.

Jessie huffed angrily and stood up, throwing the remote at the chair, "Fine!" She ran out of the room and went up the stairs to her room. She slammed her door behind her and stomped to her bed. She sat in front of her laptop and angrily began to type to David.

'I can't go.' She watched as his green light immediately appeared.

'Wat do u mean?'

'I can't go. As simple as that.'

'R u worried that id take u 2 crap?'

She was a little worried about that, but she didn't bother to tell him that, 'That's not it. My mom grounded me cuz of my grades.'

'Babe dont worry. Romeo has this covered.'

'Did you just call me babe?' He replied with a wink face and she watched his light go out.

She sighed, "He never stays on.."

She grabbed a pillow and hugged it to herself as she reached forward and clicked the little square with David's face. She was transferred to his page and her eyes rested on a larger version of the square. The girl that she had seen on there weeks before had disappeared from the picture. It was now just a simple picture of David with that silly grin.

She felt small flutters in her stomach as she looked at his face. She whimpered, "You better come through for me.."
