Jessie jumped forward and turned around quickly to see David looking at her with quite an amused look. She swallowed hard and stood up straight to glare at him, "Don't ever do that again!" Her glare almost wavered when she looked at his smooth brown eyes and trailed up to his dark locks that needed a slight trim so she could see his eyes better. She shivered slightly.

"What?" An impish grin spread across his lips. Jessie's heart thumped in her ears and she feared that he could hear it.

"Th-that... What you..."

He sighed, "Can you even perform a complete sentence?" He looked at her as if she was dumb then, his grin slipping to a slight frown. Jessie mentally slapped herself, Get a hold of yourself!

"What do you want, David?" She forced her voice to be edged with annoyance, but she was actually thrilled and excited. She hated her wolf for even getting the least bit excited over the delinquent.

His grin returned and he crossed his arms over his chest, "I couldn't help but over hear your conversation with that beautiful red head." Jessie's cheeks burned and she clenched her fist. She couldn't decide whether she was angry that he had called Margaret beautiful or the fact that he had heard their conversation.

She loved Margaret to death, but she felt threatened and betrayed somehow by him giving her a compliment and not Jessie.

"Your point is? You eavesdrop and now what?"

He gave a loud and fake laugh that sent Jessie's wolf crawling into a corner inside, "I thought you would like to come to a little party tonight."

"No. I'm busy tonight."

"Doing what? Studying?" Her cheeks burned brighter. "Look, she was right you know. Nobody likes a good girl." He brushed past Jessie sending jolts of electricity when they touched, ready to walk away. He turned his head once over his shoulder to tell her, "Who knows... Maybe you can get Daddy’s attention."

Jessie's mouth fell open as she watched David leave. Her eyes couldn't help but settle on his pants, wondering how it would look to watch his little wolf tail swing back and forth as he walked. She sighed and felt her heart beat return to normal as he left out of sight.

Her hand reached up and she touched her still warm cheek, "Could he feel that?"

All her life that she had known David in the pack she had never said two words to him. She barely saw him at all and in the slight chance that she did, he was too far away for her to even bother to care. Suddenly he comes and wants to invite her to a party? Something was fishy and she couldn't decide what it was. She rubbed her arms in the heat trying to press away the goosebumps.

She felt strange after that encounter. She barely knew the guy and yet she was acting this way. A word randomly popped into her head and she immediately denied the simple word.

"No. Not that. Definitely not that." She felt her wolf stir in her and she swallowed hard.

Jessie gave a soft sigh as she opened the front door to her house. She looked around expecting Charles to be somewhere in the living room reading or watching T.V but he wasn't there. She walked to the kitchen where Cynthia was slicing vegetables as ingredients in the dish that she was cooking for her family that night.

"Hey Mom." Cynthia looked up and smiled at her daughter.

"Jessie! You're home early."

"Yeah... Margaret and I decided not to go anywhere for today." Jessie walked to Cynthia's side and grabbed a small piece of carrot. She didn't feel like mentioning that she had technically gotten into a small fight with Margaret. It would have had Cynthia asking too many questions that Jessie had no energy to discuss. She popped the carrot into her mouth and chewed as she looked out the window in front of her.

Cynthia turned back to her vegetables with a small nod, "Oh."

"Yeah... Where's Dad?"

"He went to an emergency pack meeting..." She held up a finger before Jessie could utter a word, "And no, you may not know what about. It doesn't concern you at this moment and I guarantee that by tomorrow someone from the meeting is bound to gossip all about it."

Jessie closed her mouth and sighed, "Alright... I'm going to my room now." She leaned over and placed a kiss on Cynthia's cheek before turning away in the direction of her room.

She sat down in her desk chair and turned on her computer. She logged into facebook and immediately she heard the sound of an oncoming message. She raised an eyebrow as she looked at the corner of the screen and saw in bold letters David Nickols. Her heart skipped a beat as she looked over the words.

"What the hell is wrong with me?"
