Indy had agreed.
He and Ox sat under an open tent.
"Henry Jones, Jr.," Ox said, his right hand moving as if he was writing something.
"That's right," Indy replied. "Listen to me."
Everyone looked on. Ox leaned forward, and placed his other hand on his friend's shoulder.
"'To lay their just hands on that Golden Key that ope's the Palace of Eternity,'" Ox quoted.
"Palace of..." Indy trailed off.
"It's from Milton," Spalko said, a little annoyed. "He's said it before, why?"
"Ox," Indy sighed, Ox's hand still moving. "You got to tell us how to get to Akator or they're gonna kill Marion."
"'Through eyes that last I saw in tears, here in death's dream kingdom..." Ox trailed off.
"Harold," Indy said, trying to get through to him. "They're gonna kill Abner's little girl. You got to tell us how to get there. We need..."
Indy stopped.
He looked down at Oxley's hand, that was moving the entire time. Staring at the hand, as if it were writing, understood something.
"Get me some paper," Indy turned to Spalko. "Something to write with."
In under a minute, Indy was handed a pencil and a notepad. Handing the pencil to Ox, and holding the notepad, Oxley began to write on the paper, and began to speak.
"Three times it drops," Oxley said aloud. "The way down."
"Pictographs," Spalko spoke, looking at the paper.
Indy looked at the paper, and corrected her.
"Ideograms."
Once Oxley was done, he dropped the pencil. Indy and Spalko walked away, while the twins and Marion walked to Ox. Jack sat in the seat, while Mutt kneeled on the ground. Mutt began to try and get his attention.
"The wavy lines means water," Indy said, walking around the fire while depicting the drawings. "Closed eyes mean sleep. The sun with the arc over the sky stands for time. The word 'now' is 'until.' The horizon and the snake mean one thought. The horizon stood for the world, but not earth, it meant great."
He began to think on what the drawings put together means.
"'The water sleeps until the great snake,'" he translated. "They're directions, get me a map."
A table with a map was brought outside. They looked at the map, finding out where they need to go.
"The great snake is the Amazon," he continued. "But what water sleeps?"
Marion, the twins and Oxley were ordered out of the tent. They may not know what the soldier said exactly, but they didn't need to know when he pointed his gun at them.
As they looked, Spalko pointed out a place on the map.
"Sono," she said. "Portuguese for 'sleep.'"
"He wants us to follow this curve of the Sono," Indy continued. "Down to where it meets the Amazon to the southeast."
Jack and Marion saw Mutt walk closer to the table. Jack, not knowing what he was doing, tried to pull him back, but Marion understood. She shook her head at Jack.
"After that I'm not sure," Indy continued to say, standing straight. "Kingdom of dreams, tears and eyes, I have no idea what that means. This could be the route though."
