The indigenous people stayed away from the group, as they made their way up the stairs of the temple. Once all six came to the top, they stared at the pillar in front of them.
"Where's all the gold?" Mac asked.
"Greedy," Jack said under her breath.
"What a waste of my time," Mac finished.
"Ox was here before," Indy spoke, gaining their attention. "But he couldn't get into the temple."
Indy and Ox walked down the small set of stairs in front of the pillar. Ox bent down and pick up a handful of sand.
"So he took the skull back to the cemetery," Indy continued.
"Where he found it," Jack finished, staring at the strange pillar.
Sticking out of the pillar, where stone faces.
"'To lay their just hands on that Golden Key,'" Ox said, letting the sand fall from his hand, and into Indy's. "'That ope's the Palace of Eternity.'"
"Key that ope's the palace," Indy repeated. "The obelisk is the key?"
Ox muttered under his breath, as he began to circle the obelisk, touching the stone faces.
"What is he looking for?" Mutt asked.
As Ox continued to touch the stone faces, he heard a creak. Looking at the stone, sand began to pour out of a small crevice.
"You figured this out in your cell, didn't you?" Indy asked him, walking away.
Mac gently pushed Oxley away, so he can try to remove the stone face. Behind him, Indy had picked up a heavy stone, and stood over Mac. The twins, Marion and Mac looked at him confused. Indy came down the stairs, and Mac moved out of the way. Indy hit the stone and made it more easy to remove. Removing the stone from the obelisk, the sand poured out faster.
Mac and Mutt grabbed big stones, and began to hit the stone faces. They removed the loose stone faces, letting more sand come out of the obelisk. Once all the stones were removed, the obelisk began to sink. They watched as four pillars, laying above them, began to rise. When the four pillars met, the sand beneath them began to sink, making the group fall. They fell on a set of stairs.
"Sorry," Jack said to her twin, for she had fallen on him.
Hearing something, Indy alerted the others to the sound. They sat on the stairs, trying to decipher the sound. Soon, the stairs began to retract into the wall. Seeing this, Indy urged the others to run. They ran as fast as the could down the stairs, but Ox was in the front. As they continued, the stairs were getting smaller and smaller.
Mutt grabbed Jack's hand, and she grabbed Marion's. The stairs had retracted so far into the wall, that they stopped, their backs against the wall. Fortunately, they didn't fall very far, and landed in water. Ox began walking around, slightly moving his arms around, and Mutt noticed.
"He dropped the skull," Mutt told the others.
The twins helped Ox look for the skull. Walking past Marion and Indy, Mutt saw them hug each other. They pulled away, and was leaning in to kiss when...
"Hold this," Mutt said, picking up a skeleton from the water, and giving it to Indy, pushing the adults apart.
Jack saw this, and giggled. Marion and Indy looked at her, and she morphed her giggles into coughs. Mutt reached back into the water, and, finding the skull, gave it back to Ox.
"Let's go," Mutt spoke, beginning to walk away.
He turned around when he noticed that they didn't move.
"This way?" He asked, pointing to his right.
They began walking from the chamber. Indy had grabbed a torch, and Mac lit it. With the new light, they found a passage and walked through, Indy going first. They soon came to a new chamber with gold and other valuable items.
"That's more like it," Mac spoke.
"Are these artifacts?" Jack asked, looking amazed.
"From every era of early history," Indy confirmed.
As they walked around, Indy pointed out the eras of each group of trinkets.
"Egyptian," Jack said, looking at a pile of treasure. "Early Egyptian."
"They were archeologists," Indy murmured.
They noticed Ox standing in front of a strange door. It had a picture of a skeleton. They walked over to him. All, but Mac, who was stuffing his pockets, touched the skull in Ox's hands. It felt like the skull was magnetic.
"How do we open it?" Mutt asked, staring at the door.
"I'll give it back," Indy told Ox, gently taking the skull. "I promise."
Indy walked up to the door, moving some cobwebs out of the way. Raising it over his head, he placed the skull in the indentation. At the top of the door, an arrow shaped stone come down, making two cylinder shaped stones fall down the sides. The door opened, and revealed a small hallway into another room. Entering the room, the saw thirteen chairs, and each chair had a crystal skeleton sitting there.
There was only one out of place. A skeleton was leaning forward in its chair, headless.
"No more," Ox spoke to the skeleton. "Forever waiting. Soon now."
He walked towards the headless skeleton, holding out the skull.

They turned around, to find Mac pointing a gun at them.
"Sorry, Jonesey," Mac said.
"What, your a triple agent?" Indy asked, angry.
"Nah," Mac replied. "I just lied about being a double."
Behind him, they saw Spalko enter, looking amazed.
