Hi...well...here we are again. So... I'm still emotionally unstable because of what happened in The Darkest Legacy. If you haven't read it...Well you better get on that shit soon because I want to write some one shots after or during The Darkest Legacy and I desperately don't want to spoil you, but if you'd like to see something TDL related...TELL ME! Anyway...Hope you enjoy this, this thing...

The story behind this: When I was rereading 'The Darkest Minds' (for the 30th time or so) I noticed that during the whole Walmart ordeal the guys there were willing to trade the secret of East River for one thing, but Chubs and Liam refused...THIS IS THAT STORY

********************

Liam

I was so tired of these idiots. I was tired of what they were doing and what they were saying. I was tired of their constant bullshit. I could tell that Chubs and Ruby were both getting tired of them as well.

I looked at Ruby who looked like she was going to faint or bite Greg for getting near her. Chubs seemed to noticed and moved closer to her as if to say "Get the fuck out you creep". I was thankful he did it, before I did. I kept my distance for most of the time, until the ginger kid, Collins I think, said laying back on his sleeping bag "What was that kid's name again? The Yellow who worked with us in the kitchen? Fred? Frank?Felipe—Felipe Marino?"

"Felipe?" I interrupted. I knew a Felipe. "Did you say Felipe Marco?"

"You know him?" he asked confused.

"We traveled together for a while." I replied nodding as Greg interrupted.

"Must have been before he got his ass caught here. He was the one that told us about this place. Said he was here with his friend—that you?"

"Yeah, what happened to him?" I said moving between Ruby and Greg. "They brought us to separate camps."

"He was in one of the earlier buses they were taking to Maryland. Who knows?" Greg shrugged. "I miss that kid. He was smart. Knew how to use his powers—better than your pet, at least. Might as well send her back for all the good she's going to do for you."

I looked back at Zu. She looked like she didn't care enough to look up, but she heard. I knew she heard. And she knew I knew. I was so mad at him. She went through so much. They should know better. She's a kid. It's not her fault. None of this was her fault. Why would he condem someone to a camp just because they can't control their powers. I couldn't control my powers for a long time. No one deserved to be at a camp. Not one of the kids there.

"You have two seconds to tell me you're kidding," Ruby said, "or I'm punching you in the face."

"Do it," Chubs hissed.

I wanted to let her do it, but there was no point. If we still wanted to get anything out of them then we would have to bare with them. I placed my hand on Ruby's shoulder to try and . I brushed my figers against hers on the floor. She jerked at the touch, but surprisingly didn't move away. I felt the other glance at us, but I didn't care. Not now at least.

When I looked back at Greg he had his hands up. ""All I'm saying is there's something off about her. She's not like the others, is she?" He said leaning in closer to us. "Is she retarded? Did they do testing on her?"

"She's mute, not deaf," I said. I was surprised at how calm my voice was, compared to the anger bubbling inside of me. "And I promise you, she's probably five times smarter than the seven of us put together."

"I'm not so sure about that," Chubs began. "I'm—"

I glared at Chubs and he seemed to have understood what I meant. When I reassured myself that he wasn't going to start monologuing about how he was actually smarter than us, I came towards Ruby's ear. I didn't want Zu here. I was over a 100% sure that if she stayed here they would say something that would seriously hurt her and seeing Zu hurt was the worst that could happen.
