Ever since Yui had left for America, the Karasuno members have been missing her greatly, especially Tobio. He was so worried about his sister that his sets have become unstable during practice. Sometimes they're too short, sometimes they're too long and Hinata isn't able to hit them. They sometimes even hit him smack dab in the face.
Hinata was starting to get worried. Whenever they practice, especially during a set, Tobio's eyes would lose focus and the ball would hit him. Ukai had to replace Tobio with Sugawara whenever the setter lost focus.
After practice one day, Hinata dragged Tobio to sit with him in the corner of the gym. Tobio only gave him a confused look, not sure as to what Hinata was up to, but reluctantly complied.
"Are you okay?" Hinata asked, and Tobio felt like he was hit with a ball to the face, metaphorically this time. He hadn't expected that question. He kept silent and didn't answer. "Because everyone is worried. You've been off lately." Hinata continued softly, not sure what would anger the setter.
"We're all worried, for both you and Yui senpai." Hinata said, reaching a hand out to grab Tobio's, but Tobio slapped his hand away.
"You don't understand." He muttered, suddenly getting up from his spot, Hinata following suit.
"You don't understand what happened, or how much I'm worried for her, no one does!" Tobio shouted, looking Hinata straight in the eyes. As Hinata stared wide eye into Tobio's dark ones, he saw how much fear and worry was lurking behind the dark orbs. How much anger and frustration there was.
"Well then tell me!" Hinata shouted back, eyes raging, not understanding as to why Tobio didn't trust him. "I'm worried about you! Who knows what will happen. You could be missing your sister so much you didn't look as to where you were going and get into an accident." Hinata said.
Tobio only stood there wide eye. Hinata was worried about him. He did not expect the orange-haired boy to care about him in any sense.
"Can you stop acting like a brat!" Hinata shouted, his hands clenching, nails digging into his palms. Tobio immediately regretted yelling at Hinata and lowered his head, muttering a "Sorry." as he dragged the boy back to sit on the floor. He reached out to hold Hinata's hands and unfurled them from their tight grip. He rubbed his thumb across the nail marks Hinata's nails caused and sighed.
"It's just that, my sister has been through so much pain. Tobio avoided eye contact with Hinata, refusing to look up as he continued his story. "S-She was in a slump after junior high. She had depression. It was really bad, to the point where she started cutting herself and getting herself in dangerous situations." He then felt tears start to well up in his eyes as he remembered all the hard times his sister had to go through.
"She overdosed once..." Tobio murmured absentmindedly as he remembered opening the door to his sister's room one day and seeing her on the floor with a bunch of different types of medicine bottles scattered next to her.
