It was the first day of high school for many, having taken and passed U.A's entrance exams for their designated classes. Those who strived for the hero course were accepted as fit, as well as those who wanted to excel for a place in the duelist course. These two courses were the hardest to get into, and the students in these classes were most respected.

Now it was time for the next generation of heroes, duelists, and the rare ones who could exceed at both occupations. Each student had a goal they wanted to achieve, and whether they acted upon it to make it happen would be their choice.

Izuku Midoriya was walking through the halls of his new school, trying to find Class 1-A, the hero course.

"It's gotta be here somewhere..." He muttered to himself. "Maybe this room?" He knocked on a classroom door.

It opened, and startling bright green eyes bore into his own darker orbs.

"Uh..." Izuku forgot what he was going to say for a moment, before stammering, "H-hi! Is this Class 1-A?" He observed the boy in front of him. The boy's hair was several shades of light and dark blues, and a streak of pink ran down the middle of his knight blue hair.

The boy was silent for a moment, unsmiling. Izuku felt quite intimidated by the tall boy. "No, this is the duelist course." He finally said. "Class D-1."

"Oh, I'm sorry," Izuku said in embarrassment, scratching the back of his neck.

"Class 1-A is next door." The boy stated, ignoring the apology.

Izuku frowned slightly at the boy's behavoiur. "Alright... see you around I guess."

"Yusaku, who is it? You've been standing there for ages!" A voice piped up from inside the room.

The boy, Izuku now learned was Yusaku, turned to the voice. "Someone from Class 1-A. He thought we were his class. He's going now."

"Hang on a sec!" The owner of the voice appeared next to Yusaku. He wore smart looking green glasses and behind them were lavender eyes. His hair was white with an outline of red. "Hello, I'm Takeru Homura." He introduced himself to Izuku.

"I'm Izuku Midoriya, nice to meet you Homura." The greenette said respectfully. Then he unintentionally peeked past Homura, seeing the other students.

"Woah... that's an... interesting class you've got there. How come there's only one girl?" Izuku asked curiously.

One girl out of 20 students, must be tough, he thought sympathetically to the blonde haired girl.

"Hm? Oh, you mean Mai Valentine." Homura said, glancing back at the girl. He looked back at Izuku and shrugged. "Not quite sure, but there were quite a few girls who tried out for the duelist course. Mai was the only one who made the cut out of all the girls though."

"Oh..." Izuku said. "I feel sorry for those girls... and I hope Uraraka passed the exam too..." He muttered to himself.

"What was that?" Homura asked politely.

"O-oh!" Izuku blushed, not realizing he voiced his thoughts out loud about Uraraka. "N-nothing! I-I guess I'll be going now."

Yusaku nodded stiffly. "Good idea. Class is starting soon."

Izuku gulped and nodded. "Sure, yeah. Bye." He didn't like Yusaku much, but Homura seemed nice, Izuku thought as he scurried next door to his class.

"Deku! There you are!" Ochaco Uraraka exclaimed. "What took so long?"

"I... Well, I got lost, and accidentally went into the duelist course's classroom." Izuku said.

Iida Tenya overheard and said seriously, "I suggest you stay away from the duelist course students. They're always very stuck up and serious. They care about no one but themselves! I can't imagine why Yuuei would accept them!"

"Well, Yusaku didn't seem all that nice, but Takeru Homura was very kind," Izuku replied meekly.

Iida frowned. "I still think it would be on your best interests to keep clear of them!"

"And why's that, four eyes?" A voice sneered. It was Katsuki Bakugou, or as Izuku called him, Kacchan.

Bakugou continued. "Those twerps in the duelist course have power. Some of them have quirks too, and I don't like that. I'm gonna get my own deck and crush 'em!" He declared.

"You hear that duelist dorks?!" He screamed so the boys next door would hear. "I'm gonna be number one, with a quirk and a deck! I'll destroy you all!"

Of course, Izuku already knew that. That Kacchan wanted to be the best, and since being a duelist meant more power, then he'd want to excel in dueling as well as actual combat. It was the ash blonde's dream and promise ever since he manifested his explosive quirk.

The door opened, as if in response to the threat. A man with shaggy black hair, his body encased in a yellow sleeping bag, stood in the doorway. Class 1-A stared at the strange newcomer.

"Who's that?" One of the students piped up unsurely.
