Chapter 5

Hiro's POV

I woke up as the sun shines bright on my face. I woke up later than usual since there's no class during the weekend. I stretched my body as weird and satisfying cracking sound come out all over my body.

I pulled the curtain aside and immediately overwhelmed by the blinding sunlight. Although I looked at the view every weekend but a certain pink-haired girl who just moved in few days ago entered my view of field.

I leaned against the window, just quietly looked at her in the opposite building. Her long, silky pink hair with her alluring horns kinda blends in with the white night dress she's wearing.

"Damn....Why do I act like a stalker?", I questioned myself as I just can't take my eyes off her. As I was thinking, she woke up, after stretched her body, she immediately looked at my direction, caught me red handed. I don't know how to react and just gave her a awkward smile. She then gave me a smug smile before pulling the curtain, leaving me in a awkward situation. Then my phone got a message from a certain someone.

"Pervert."

That's all I got and I don't need to guess who send it.

"I'm sorry.", I send back with an awkward smile emoji. After cleaning myself and had some breakfast, I sat before the desk and tried to finish my homework before it's too late. As I was doing my homework, I got a feeling that someone's stared at me.

I looked towards that direction and found out Zero Two just stared at me with both of her arms under her chin and there's a piece if paper written "Payback time~" stuck on the window. I laughed a little as I continued to do my homework.

As I finished my homework and a simple dinner prepared for myself, it's almost nighttime. I lied down on my bed, recharge back the energy I wasted on homeworks.

"Why is time passing so fast?", I mumbled as I rolled around my bed. I got up and decided to have a night jog. After changed into appropriate attire, I took a glance at Zero Two's house and it's pitch black.

"I wonder where is she?", I questioned myself as I locked the door. After some minor warm-up, put on my earphones, then I started my night jog.

The reasons I like to jog at night is because compared to jog in the morning, the temperature is nice and breezy and nothing beats a good sleep after a workout. As the music played in my ear, I ran along the empty street, without peoples or vehicles, I ran and ran, unconsciously I reach a park near the mountains located nearby my house.

The park is totally different compare to day, well...how to explain...it's kinda creepy since there are rumors people saw unidentified figure or white shadow around this place during night. 

"Hopefully I'm not that 'lucky' today....", I mumbled as I continued to run into the park. I ran until I out of breath, stopped at a nearby stone bench, grabbed my water bottle I brought along. As I'm drinking, a sound in the forest shook me, water are being spilled from my mouth.

I looked at the direction where the sound come from, what I saw is a black figure disappeared into darkness. I froze like a piece of dead log, kept questioning myself what the hell is that. As I tried to go back, but the curiosity within me kept me from going back.

"Fuck it....", I clenched my fist as I ran towards that direction. I walked until I arrived at the cliff that is collapsed due to a landslide few years ago. I looked around and saw the blank figure stood at the edge of the cliff, by the which it kinda reminds me of someone.

Moonlight soon brighten the area as wind blew at the same time. As her hair waved in the wind, I saw the face of hers. It's Zero Two. She noticed me and she's kinda surprise that I'm there.

"Oh hey...Hiro, didn't expect you're here....", she said while still being surprised.

"Thank God it's you. I thought it's something else.", I said in relief as I sat on the ground, tried to catch a breath.

"Why? Mistaken me as a ghost again?", she said. "Just how delusional are you!"

She started to laugh as I can't held back my laughter and laugh as well. Both of our laughter echoed through the mountains. I looked at her, black sport bra with a grey sweater and black jog pants. She tied her hair into ponytail while wearing a cap which made her horns like a part of a decoration of her cap.

"Late night jogging?", I asked as I tried to grasp air after the intense laughing.

"Yeah, I assume you're same as well.", she sat down beside me, stared at the view beyond the cliff.

"By the way, why you're here? I mean there are other places to go.", I asked.

"Actually I don't know, couple months ago, I started to have some visions. A little boy and I, just playing around and something resembled a cliff side appeared and this is the closest one I can find.", she said as she rested her head on her knee.

"Wait....visions? Nah...probably not, maybe it's a coincidence.", I started to think, until a voice interrupted me.

"Hiro? Hiro? It's getting late, let's go home.", she said as I stood up and cleared the dirt from my clothes. As we walked along the street back home, we didn't say anything. She walked cheerfully in the front with her hands behind the back and I'm just quietly followed her from behind. After we turned at a corner, she suddenly stopped.

"Zero Two...?", she remained silence. I looked at where she's looking and I saw a group of people in front of us.

"Oh what a coincidence. It's been a while, Iota.", a blonde-haired guy who kinda resembled their leader said with a smile.

"What do you want, Alpha?", Zero Two said in a serious tone.

"Nothing, we're just passing by. And I notice you made yourself a friend.", he said as he looked at me. He signaled his group to walk passed us.

"Iota, you know you can't live like this forever. You know what I'm talking about right?", he said before he leave us alone.

After that, we continued to walk back but with a tense and awkward atmosphere surrounded us, soon we reached our apartments. She turned back and looked at me, forced a smile at me and said.

"Have a good night, Hiro."

"You too, Zero Two. Good night.", I said as I looked at her entered he building feeling nothing but concern for her. I sighed and entered the building, ended the night for us.
