Chapter 3

Hiro's POV

I woke up as I stared at my phone.

4 a.m.

"Are you kidding me....?", I mumbled as I snuggled back to the warm blanket, forced myself back to sleep, but I can't. I dragged my lifeless body to the washroom, looked myself in the mirror, kinda laughed a bit since my face really looked like a zombie.

I yawned as I fit myself into the uniform, looked into the mirror, nodded in satisfaction, opened the door then realized....

It just only 5 a.m., I sighed as I locked the door, walked to a nearby convenience store and brought something before heading to school. I soon before the school gate, it looked quite creepy without any lights on, I gulped and walked towards my class.

I opened the classroom door, expect to have no one in there, but there's a person stood near the window at the far side of the class.

"I'm not imagine things, right?", I stood at the door as I slowly walked towards my place. "I must be too tired.", I tired to convince myself.

The figure slowly moved towards the front door, turned on the light switch. Then I realized that figure is Zero Two.

"Oh it's you, Zero Two. You scare the shit out of me.", I said in relief as she walked towards me.

"*laugh* What, you think I'm a ghost?", she said in a cheerful tone.

"*sigh* Yeah...", I said as I looked at her uniform. "I see you change to our school uniform, you look good on it."

"Oh thanks. *yawn* Excuse me.", I said with a smile.

"Have a nap before the class start, okay?", I asked.

"O-okay.", she sat down on her seat, lied down and slept in no time. I sighed and grabbed the sandwich and canned coffee and started enjoy it. Then I thought...

"Why she's at the classroom at this time?"

As time passed, the classroom slowly filled up with student. But things doesn't change, people still kept their distance away from her. Soon the first period arrive. I know that student from APE Academy are smart, but I didn't expected it's this smart.....

*Biology class*

"Can someone explain what's the role of mitochondria?", the teacher asked and Zero Two stood up.

"The most prominent roles of mitochondria are to produce the energy currency of the cell through respiration, and to regulate cellular metabolism.", she said and she calmly sat down.

*History class*

"Ermm...Zero Two, who is Date Masamune?"

"Date Masamune was a regional ruler of Japan's Azuchi–Momoyama period through early Edo period. Heir to a long line of powerful daimyōs in the Tōhoku region, he went on to found the modern-day city of Sendai. An outstanding tactician, he was made all the more iconic for his missing eye, as Masamune was often called dokuganryū, or the "One-Eyed Dragon of Ōshu"."

*Chemistry class*

"Who knows the chemical formula of Sulfuric acid and Citric acid? Who should I call? Zero Two, can you do it?", the teacher asked and Zero Two went to the white board and wrote.

"Whoa Zero Two, you're good. I'm bad at these stuff.", I said as she sat down after finished the questions.

"Hmm...I can give you extra lesson if you want."

"Really? Thanks.", I replied with a smile.

For the next few days, Zero Two seemingly turned into my personal tutor, revise on every subject that I'm weak at by utilized every single free time we have in school, no matter is recess time or even after school.

Zero Two's POV

*Recess Time*

"Wanna grab something to eat?", Hiro said as the bell rang.

"Mmm...o-okay. Why?", I asked.

"Well...I need to thank you for tutoring me.", he embarrassingly said as he scratched the back of his head. I chuckled by his expression and accepted his offer.

Soon we arrived at the canteen, grabbed some fried noodles and sat at the nearby table. Both of us were like placing under the spotlight, but not in a not so good way. Eyes landed on both of us, then peoples started to whisper.

"Eww...is she human?"

"Why she's here?"

"Those are horns, right?"

"We better get away from her."

"Zero Two..."

"Zero Two..."

"Ahh...It's going all over again. Stay calm, pretend nothing is happening. Don't go wild....I've already decided to change, don't do it....No!"

"ZERO TWO!", a voice snapped me back into reality. I looked at him as he's grabbing my shoulder. "Are you okay? You seem pale."

"Y-yeah, I'm okay.....", I replied. He looked at me with a smile while his expression changed as he slowly stood up.

"Did you all have nothing else to do? She may have a different appearance than us but it doesn't mean you can talk bad about her."

The entire area immediately went dead silence, eyes fixed on him. The person who whispered slowly backed out, he exhaled as he finished talking, sat down and continued eating.

"T-thanks for helping me earlier."

"Don't worry about that.", he replied with a smile. Both of us returned to the classroom afterwards, as we entered the classroom, the student council president, Ichigo is waiting for us.

Hiro's POV

"Can both of you come with me for a while?", she asked.

"Yeah, why?", I asked.

"Just follow me.", we followed her as we arrived at the rooftop. As she opened the door, I saw all my friends that I usually hang out with.

"Finally here huh? Hiro.", Zorome said.

"*sigh* Looks like he's already abandon us after a girl appeared, she quite beautiful though.", Mitsuru said.

"Mitsuru-kun, what you just said?", Kokoro said as she stared at him like she's going to kill him.

"I'm sorry...."

"You haven't eat with us for a while, Hiro.", Futoshi said.

"Wait wait, guys! Yes, I'm apologize that I'm not around for a few days. Ohhh I know it, you all just jealous because I just hang around with Zero Two only."

"NO WE'RE NOT!", they all said in unison.

"Then you guys can introduce yourself to her, right?", I said as they started to introduce their self.

"Zero Two, I hope you don't mind, right?", I said as she nodded and stood up.

"Let's introduce myself again. My name is Code 002, you guys can call me Zero Two. Nice to meet you all."

Although this is the same words she said when she transferred in, but the sincere smile of hers makes everything better.
