Conor
A deep moan of satisfaction escaped my mouth, as our kiss became deeper. She ran her tongue over my bottom lip, her teeth slightly grazing the soft skin on my lip. My hand snaked around her waist and she tugged desperately at my hair, her soft fingers kneading through my loose curls.
''Conor.'' She breathed, against my mouth, our kiss slowing down.
''Melissa'' I whispered.
3 months ago I was so desperate for Leah. I was desperate to have her lips against mine.
Now I had everything I wanted in front of me.
3 months.
And Leah is still in deep slumber. She's never going to wake up, Doctor Pendaski told me. I guess he was right.
Melissa clumsily clambered off and fell beside me on the bed.
''What's on your mind?'' She asked. She was so caring. So beautiful. So perfect.
''Nothing.'' I replied. I turned my body so I was on my side and facing her.
''Conor...."
''Yeah, beautiful?''
''If Leah was to wake up, would you leave me??'' She asked, her eyes stared at me long and hard as if she was trying to fit pieces of a puzzle.
''This isn't Jeremy Kyle.'' I said smiling as soon as a chuckle escaped her mouth.
''So, you-you won't leave?''
''Never'' I said, truthfully enough. ''I promise''
The smile on her face made my heart flutter and my love for her grew. Then at the wrong moment, my phone rang.
I rolled my eyes and slipped my phone out of my pocket.
Zach.
I swiped the green button and put the phone to my ear.
''Conor!!'' Zach exclaimed.
''What?'' I snapped. ''Why the hell are you calling?''
''Take a break from being an ass, and listen!'' Zach yelled.
I scoffed. "I'm listening."
''It's Leah'' Zach whispered into the receiver.
I immediately presumed he was in the toilet.
''What about her?'' I sated,bored.
''Leah's awake.''
Leah
As soon as my eyes became exposed to light, I felt as if I'd been frozen for what, 3,500 years. My body was unnaturally stiff and I felt heavy. I turned to my left, my neck barely accommodating my sudden movement.
Ouchhhh. Yup, there went my cervical vertebrae.
Zach looked down on my with a beautiful smile dominating his face.
''You look great Leah!'' He exclaimed. ''Your face has healed.''
I mustered a smile.
''Thanks.'' My voice barley projected and I sounded like an old woman on drugs.
''He'll soon be here.'' Zach added. I knew that Zach was talking about Conor. I didn't care about Conor. Not anymore. Not after I sat there helplessly as he visited me with another girl, telling me about how much she meant to him. As if I'd never been or would never be again.
He'd given up.
A few minutes later there was a soft knock on the door. Zach looked at me with concern, I nodded to assure him.
The door opened, and Conor walked in, holding tightly unto Melissa's hand. I sat up in my bed, slowly, and watched them take a seat, never breaking from each other's grasp.
I clenched my teeth together, to stop my anger from getting the better of me.
''How are you?'' Conor whispered. I said nothing to reply and continued to stare at the wall behind them. I looked over at Melissa.
Her hair was perfectly curled, and she had preserved a neutral expression on her face.
''Leah.'' Conor whispered. I looked at him, and observed the tears that were threatening to fall from his eyes.
I said nothing and turned to Zach.
''Am I allowed to go home?'' I asked. Zach nodded.
''Sure, I don't know why though. You should be here at least 3 more weeks. But yeah, as long as you go physio for about 2 months.'' He pouted childishly, heading towards the door.
I rolled my eyes.
"I'll be fine, Zach. Wait for me!" I climbed out to the reinforced steel bed, my body gradually adjusting.
''Leah!'' Conor called from behind me. I slowly turned myself to face him.
I had no words. Nothing that could elucidate the pain I felt, the anger.
I walked straight out of the room, towards Zach.
Conor
My heart beat became irregular.
Leah? She was so cold, so hateful.
But why did it mean so much to see her beautiful face again? Why did I feel the need to hold her?
''Conor, what's the matter?'' Melissa whined her hand snaking around my neck. I took her thin arms and dropped them back by her side.
I tried to walk away, but she grabbed me fiercely by my arm.
''You said you wouldn't leave'' She said, tears falling from her eyes. ''You promised!''
''I know.'' I said whispered. I turned my back on her and walked towards the door.
''Conor? No, no.'' She screamed. ''Conor, what are you doing? Please, please don't. Don't do this.'' Her sobs became more violent and she fell to the ground.
Mellisa.
I'm sorry.
