A few days later I was sitting outside by the pool. It was a rather hot day and again I wasn't feeling so good. The dizziness wouldn't go away... I only seemed to get worse. That and the smell of the house made me nauseous. It smelled like people... Like losers, as Emilia had said, and it was almost unbearable to be inside.

Thankfully, Luna and her friends had went out to the beach so I could enjoy my afternoon alone, on the same pool she once fell... If only it had been for good... Well, it wouldn't change much so it's not worth thinking like that...
No Luna would mean no Simón, and despite everything that happened, I couldn't wish that he hadn't walked into my life.

The sound of someone clearing his throat woke me up from my thoughts.
"Matteo!" I exclaimed, surprised to see him. The last time I had laid eyes on him was at Luna's party. "I thought you were in Italy or something like that."
He pointed to the spot next to me and I nodded giving him permission, something no one asked me these days.

He took his shoes off and lifted his jeans a little, to then put his feet on the water like I had.
"No, I decided to stay for a few more days. My parents are on a trip by themselves so it wasn't really worth going back anyways."
I shook my head, laughing a little.
"Oh, Matteo... Who do you want to fool? Of course you stayed for Luna..."
He laughed. "I am too obvious, right?"
"Humm... Yes a little big bit!" I teased and we both laughed. "Actually, you have been since the very beginning which was right here." I confessed, pointing at the pool.

He looked down, taken aback by my words.
"Sorry about that, Ámbar..."
"No, no. You don't have to be sorry. I got over it a long time ago. I clearly wasn't the girl for you. It hurt me at first. A lot. And I was really mad at you. But if there is something I have learnt these past couple of months is that it is not worth sticking to the past. And being honest, we were never that kind of couple... It was show off and need of attention from my side."

"Yes, you are right... We were never the in love couple. But I want you to know I always cared about you. I knew things about your life, about your godmother that you didn't want anyone else to know. So, I also know you are going through a rough moment right now. And above all, and despite everything that happened, me caring about you that hasn't stopped. So what do you say? Friends?" He asked, offering me his hand
I took it and nodded. "Friends."
He smiled mischievously at me and the next thing I knew I was underwater.

When I came back to the surface, he was laughing and I threw him water, which made him get up.
"Don't mess with my Italian clothing, Smith." He warned playfully.
"You should not have started then, Balsano!" I threatened him and he puts his hands up.
"Okay let's call this even for the bad things you did to me."
I rolled my eyes and nodded, swimming to the stairs.
He smiled, picking up my towel and offering it to me.

I wrapped it around me, trying to get rid of the excess of water and we sit on our previous positions.
We stayed quiet for a bit, the only sound being us moving our feet on the water.
"Did you come for Luna? I think she must be on the beach with her friends." I said, breaking our silence.
He sighed. "I did but then I saw you and thought I should come and check on you."
I opened my eyes in disbelief. "Check on me? Why so?"

He slid a bit closer to me.
"I already heard what happened at Luna's party. You and the guitarist and then all the fuss that came with it."
I rolled my eyes. "Don't even remind me about that. It makes me sick..."
"Honestly, it makes me too. I always saw those people as friends and eventually I thought like them, that you were the villan that didn't deserve forgiveness for what happened with the skating rink. But after what happened with me and now after hearing the horrible things they are saying about you, I am not sure things are that black and white. Actually, what I am sure of is that they and even I cannot be called the good guys. No matter what happened, you don't deserve it."
