Ámbar
I walk until the middle of the rink, taking in how big it is and how many people this place can take.
In a couple of hours the competition will start. My last one for quite a while...I feel a mix of emotions: sadness for leaving one of the things I love the most; anxiety because of the pressure I have regarding our performance. It has to be incredible. I can't take a break (pregnant) from my skating career and not leave in glory...
Yes, I know I shouldn't worry about what others think but I NEED to be a star today. If anyone tries to mess it up, they will have to handle me...
But above all of those less positive feelings, I am happy. Happy because I have the opportunity to participate in this amazing competition, along with my awesome teammates. I will do my best and enjoy every moment of it.
A pair of arms wrap around my waist pulling me closer to the owner's body.
Simón plants a kiss on my neck and I turn around, embracing his and locking our lips.
He backs away a little with a big smile on his face, making me roll my eyes.
- Could you pretend not to be so satisfied with this rather sad moment for me? - I ask, crossing my arms.
Simón scratches the back of his head, the stupid smile not leaving his face.
- I am sorry, bonita. It's not that I am happy you are dropping skating. I am just relived. After this I can finally breathe. You can't imagine how hard this last week has been for me... Watching your every move while you're with skates, fearing something could happen to any of you. Specially since I don't trust that Tobias guy...
- Am I sensing jealousy here? - I tease, raising an eyebrow.
- Me jealous? Definitely! - he agrees making us both laugh.
This, however, gave me an idea...
I look around us, noticing how we are actually all alone. I (as usual) was one of the first to arrive, wanting to get familiar with the rink and everything else while it isn't crowded. Simón of course insisted on coming along.- What are thinking in that pretty head of yours? - he questions, knowing me too well.
I smile mischievously.
- Wait here! - I demand, taking his car key from his pocket. I basically run to the parking lot, take what I want from his car and come back to the rink.
I head to the audience chairs, where I left my bag and place down what I brought with me.
Simón just stares at me, watching my every move.
- Do you miss skating with me? - I ask when I am back to where I left him.
- Yes, a lot. But why are you asking me that?
- We made a deal right? Today would be the last time I would be skating until the baby arrives.
- Yeah... - he agrees, his face confused.
- Well, you know we cannot skate together at Jam & Roller given the rivalry between our teams. But what is stopping us here? There's literally no one watching us. And I miss skating with you A LOT. I won't be able to do it for more than six months, the least you can do is give me a proper goodbye, right? - I argue, knowing he can't refuse it after what I just said.
