A few days after our presentation as the Red Sharks and the situation with Simón, we were training on the rink. We had been doing it 2 hours daily, since Gary had appointed our name to a regional competition. The first stage was as a group, then if we passed we had one as a duo, followed by a solo and than the finale was as a group again. And if we won he would go straight to Nationals. It would start in exactly 4 weeks so we were all very nervous and excited.
Strangely, because I didn't have another word for this I still hadn't been able to talk to Simón. Emilia insisted almost on a daily basis that it was important that he knew so we could share responsabilities and fears. She knew I was very stressed lately and this was one of the things that was contributing to this feeling. Even though she didn't like Simón or his atitude with me, Emilia hoped this would be a slap on his face and he would be finally waking up, weighing his actions and the consequences of them.
I, on the other side, refused to do it, feeling Simón was too attached to people who could easily harm my baby, even if through me. Not to mention the fact that he walked around poiting fingers at me, when he doesn't know the full story or even anything about it. I had said it once, twice and kept repiting it: Simón wasn't ready for those news. And I, I didn't want my baby to have a dad like this. So it was settle that it would take a little longer. Apparently, faith or whatever had agreed with it...
In fact the universe had sent one of its own to help: Luna. Whenever Simón tried to start a conversation with me, or even if he simply approached me, there she was. I mean they were always together before and let's face it, Luna has the habit of interrupting things, but this was getting strange... Whatever was going through Lunita's head, which was more than likely jealousy, it worked in my favour so I was able to have a "calm" week after Emilia amazing slip.
The storm of our arrival as the new team also seemed to be disappearing. Even Juliana seemed lighter and less rude while training us, well probably because Gary agreed that she could train the Roller team. As long as it wasn't on our schedule or using any part of our choreography. They were also forbidden to participate in the same competitions we did because of obvious reason. Oh, and after asking for our permission, as a form of security, supervison and even for our own improvement, he installed a camera only on the rink. It wouldn't be streaming or anything like that, but it allowed monitoring people, keeping close attention to falls or injuries for a faster response, recording our training so we could see our faults and even garantee Juliana didn't step out of the line.
According to what I had heard, the Roller team would be attending a large group competition and added literally everyone to the team. Luna was super excited about this and kept rambling about the subject every meal we had to share. I, given my state, couldn't give myself the luxury of skipping meals, which meant I had to hear her a lot more than I wanted. But since I had to rest a lot as well, specially after the long trainings, I never got to see theirs. Emilia said they wanted a lot but wouldn't succeed. It was too many people, strengths and weaknesses to coordinate. The word she used was confusion, that was what their routine looked like. And of course it had as protagonist... Luna! You guessed it!
Whatever, I couldn't care less about them... Our choreography was unbelievable! The boys were really strong and they had a great ability for lifts. They lacked a bit of technic there but Juliana was getting good progress with them. Thankfully, my dizziness seemed to have given me a break as well, so the trainings were going smoothly, without me having those episodes where I needed to sit down.
Juliana told us to take a break and that was we did. I noticed Matteo leaning on the bar watching us. He waved at me calling me to him so I skated until I was facing him.
"Hey! I haven't seen you in a while." I commented as he kissed my cheek and I his.
"Can I talk to you?" He asked in a serious tone to which I replied with a nod.
