The heavy feeling in my chest returned as I stared at the invitation that I held gently in my hand. I sighed and leaned back into the chair, many thoughts cramping into my mind.

"Seems like Kuran is holding a soiree." Shiro's calm voice spoke out suddenly. My hazel gaze turn to him as he made his way to the couch, sitting next to me.

"Yeah...," Was all I could reply as I returned to watching the baby in his playpen play with his toys. I heard him sigh as he gently took the card from my hands, causing me to glance back at him with confusion. I watched him as he stared at the card, seeing a hesitant expression show on his face.

"Shiro?" I spoke up quietly. He let out a small sigh once again, not looking at me.

"Were you close to Kaname Kuran?" Those words left his mouth slowly. I bit lip and let my gaze fall to my lap.

"I guess... you can say we were close. He used to visit often when we were children. And when we reunited... I don't know. I just hope he's happy." I smiled sadly. It only led to heartache in the end. "Why do you ask?"

Shiro hummed in response. "No, I was just curious." All day, that memory from that night kept creeping back into his head. The night he saw Kaname Kuran leaving Emi's room.

Shiro made his way back into the building and quietly walked through the dark halls as he made his way back to Emi's room. He dragged his feet and looked out the frosted window, seeing the moon peek out from behind the dark clouds that loomed over Cross Academy. He ran his rough hand through his messy raven hair as he walked faster, hearing his footsteps echo quietly. Suddenly, he came to a complete stop as he watched a young man quietly walk out of the room where Emi was resting. A vampire. No... A pureblood? Shiro stared in shock as his gaze locked onto the vampires.

"You're... Kaname Kuran, correct? What business do you have here?" He asked the Pureblood sternly.

"I was only checking on someone dear to me. I bear no malicious intent." He spoke as he turned and began to walk away, but only to stop in his tracks. "Before I go, Mr. Hunter. Promise you won't say anything to Emi." He spoke up gently before continuing his way down the dark hall.

Shiro watched him disappear before he could feel the tension leave his body. He then glanced over to the door that was left slightly opened and quietly made his way towards it, opening it gently and quietly. His gaze fell on the confused young vampire that was sitting up in bed, causing shock to wash over him once again.

"Emi!" He quickly walked in and returned to her side.

"Sh-Shiro? Wh-What? Where am I?" She asked in a confused state as Her messy wavy hair fell over her shoulders.

"Hey hey... It's alright. You're going to be fine don't get worked up and rest." He said in a soothing tone, trying to get her to lay back down. He then noticed something red on her lips.

Blood.

'Maybe she coughed up some blood?' Shiro questioned himself before letting out a sigh.

"I'll go fetch you some blood tablets, I'm sure you're parched." He smiled slightly before standing back up. Before he could take a step, she spoke up. "I'm not thirsty..."

Shiro looked down at her with surprise and confusion. "What? But... you lost a lot of blood." He whispered quietly.

Her hazel eyes shut again as she licked her lips slightly, getting the remainder of blood. "I don't know... but I... I feel quenched. So I don't need tablets." She said as she flipped to her side, her back facing him.
