[Sorry it's been so long!!! And sorry for any errors, I'm editing and finishing this at 4 am ahahaha perfect time to do that, huh?]
Lia silently watched Emi who quietly took small sips of her warm coffee as they sat in the busy cafe while the rush begins to die down. A few hours have passed since they had arrived but she still kept replaying the scenes that happened not too long ago and many questions ran through her mind. Emi watched quietly as people passed by their table, feeling the girl across from her burning holes into her.
"If only looks could kill, Lia." Emi let out a soft uncomfortable laugh, causing Lia to snap out of her thoughts and let out a fake cough.
"S-Sorry, I was staring off in space." She quickly dismissed with embarrassment clouding her soft face.
Emi shook her head and smiled with wary. "I'm sorry you had to see that earlier... Things have been tense for the past few days."
Lia's brown orbs stared at the young woman in front of her with worry. Emi noticed and quickly smiled reassuringly. "Don't worry! Everything will be alright."
The blonde girl smiled softly in agreement. "He didn't really seem to like that girl... She was your old classmate right?" Lia said softly as thoughts filled her mind again and emotion of sadness flashed in her eyes suddenly.
"Well, she was in Day Class while I attended Night Class so we were mostly just acquaintances," Emi replied before taking a gulp of her sugary cream coffee. Suddenly Lia recalled the agreement she overheard Emi and that girl make. A moment of silence, other than the soft chatters that filled the cafe, washed over them before Lia finally decided to speak up again.
"Would you have left without saying goodbye again?"
Emi's hazel orbs darted from her drink to Lia quickly before placing her cup down gently. "Lia..."
"I know I shouldn't ask you something like that right now but I can't help but wonder if I didn't come to visit today, you would've..." The young girl's soft voice trailed off.
"No. I would've told you goodbye this time... I know how much it hurt you were last time... I'm sorry." Emi said truthfully with guilt washing over her.
"There are so many things I want to ask, Emi... I know you're hiding things from me. I understand that there are some things you may not be able to share but I'm your friend. You don't have to struggle alone. You never told me why you left..."
Hearing this, Emi's gaze fell to the table as she chuckled in her mind. 'Hiding things...I feel like I'm in Kaname's shoes...'
"As I told you earlier, I won't push you, Emi... Just know I'm on your side." Lia smiled sadly as she grabbed Emi's cold hands and gave them a small squeeze. This filled Emi with warmth as she returned a kind smile.
"I'll tell you soon... Just give me time. There are many things going on right now and I want to help make things right. When things calm down, I'll tell you everything, okay? And I'll tell you why I left..." Emi reassured. She wanted to tell her everything right there and then but this wasn't the right time or place. She wanted to keep Lia's eyes covered from that dark world just for a little longer.
Lia sighed softly and slowly nodded in agreement. "Alright. You promise?"
"Promise."
The two gave each other smiles after Lia returned to her silly like personality and continued to compliment the deliciously sweet pastries they ordered, enjoying each other's company for the last time for a while before they parted.
