The last couple of weeks dragged slowly by for Lindsey. He and Stevie had agreed that he wouldn't visit her anymore before the trip. It was a hard thing to agree to, but he thought for her sake it would be best. After all, he wasn't the one Kristen had decided to make miserable. He was trying to enjoy the last few weeks with his children. Not that he wouldn't see them when he returned, but if everything went the way he hoped with Stevie he would have to share custody with Kristen. So, he made the most of his time with them. He was trying to get along well with Kristen. He didn't want things to get nasty before he left and then even nastier when he told her he was leaving her. He consciously made an effort while he was spending time with his family to not think too much about Stevie. Truly, she was always on his mind, but for the most part he could push the longing to the back of his mind and focus on his family. He couldn't help the thoughts that came when he was having a great time with his kids and wishing that is was Stevie there instead of Kristen. Imagining what it would be like soon when it was Stevie enjoying these moments when they could finally be together again.
Kristen had decided that they should have a barbecue the night before Lindsey left. Lindsey wasn't thrilled about it because he still had a million last minute things to do. Either way a barbecue was still happening and Lindsey sat alone at one of the tables near the pool watching the kids swim. Lindsey wasn't really very social and most of the people here were friends of Kristen's, no one he really cared to see before he was gone for two months. He was also finding it very hard to not think about Stevie the night before they would begin their "adventure". He was so happy and it was hard to pretend he wasn't, so he just kept to himself. His phone vibrated in his pocket and he pulled it out looking at the screen. Stevie. He walked away from the pool area so he could really talk to her. "Hey!" he said enthusiastically. "Hey there yourself" she replied huskily. God he loved her voice. It was still so sexy. "Do you want to explain to me why you thought it would be a good idea to try to fly with me at a 6 a.m. departure? I'm not going to be able to sleep because I won't get up if I do. You're in trouble here Linds." she said seriously, but he could detect the slightly teasing tone in her voice."Oh I just did it to drive you insane." he teased. More seriously though he said, "I thought the earlier, the less chance I would have an escort." "Ah, yes, I suppose that was good planning on your part. Linds?" she asked. "Yeah?" he replied. "Are you sure you still want me to come? I'll understand if you've changed your mind." she asked nervously. He sighed. He should have known she would be nervous. "Baby, I have not changed my mind. I'm so excited about this. I love you." he reassured her. "Do you want me to pick you up in the morning?" he asked. "No, no that's ok. Karen's scheduled a car for me." she told him. "God Stevie you're not bringing a car full of things are you? I mean I chartered a flight for the two of us, but I doubt that it can hold your entire wardrobe!" he joked. "Lindsey! I'm not bringing my whole wardrobe. I'M not performing, so I don't need as much as usual. But I do have quite a bit." she laughed. "Ahh, I know you too well Miss Nicks." he said before a hand touched his back. "Hey, um I'll give you a call in a little while later. No more packing." he joked. "OK, I love you." she said. "You too." he answered. He didn't want to give up too much information and besides he knew she would understand. He turned around to face his older brother. "Hey Jeff, I didn't know you were coming!" he said excitedly. "Yeah I just got here, thought I'd stop by for a bit before you take off and then I found you over here." Jeff said, eyeing him suspicously. "Oh yeah, just a few loose ends I need to tie up at the last minute." he answered keeping his voice calm so Jeff wouldn't suspect anything. "Yeah I can understand that. How is she by the way?" Jeff asked knowingly. "Um, I guess I don't know what you're refering to." he answered flatly. Jeff sighed, "Come on Linds, it's not like I'm not going to tell Kristen. Your loose end...that goes by the name of Stevie Nicks." Lindsey sighed, he couldn't lie, Jeff knew. Lindsey knew he wouldn't tell. "She's good. She's had a rough month, mainly my fault, but she's better." he said. "Well not like that's a surprise." Jeff joked. "Is she going with you for a while?" Jeff asked. "Um kind of, she's staying for the tour." Lindsey said honestly. "Wow, well I can't say I'm surprised. She's it you know." Jeff said. "Yeah I know. I'm ready though." he said. Before he could say anything else his kids were calling for him and they let the conversation go. They'd said enough about it anyway.
