Stevie laid snuggled up on Lindsey's chest for the flight. She was sad to leave their romantic week behind them but knew that they were going home to live their lives together. That couldn't be a bad thing. She was a little anxious about how everything would go. Would the divorce end up being a sordid affair? Would Kristen drag them through the mud? She knew they could handle whatever came their way as long as they were together but that didn't mean it wouldn't be hard. She was anxious about the children. She was great with children, she always had been but she had never been responsible for their care. Lindsey's kids had always loved silly, generous, fun Stevie but would they love Stevie as their dad's girlfriend? Would they know about what had happened? Surely Kristen wouldn't tell them all of that. She couldn't be that crazy, could she? Would they hate Stevie for taking their dad away from their mother. Even if they did know would they understand how much Stevie and Lindsey loved each other? If the kids didn't know would they even tell them that Stevie was Lindsey's girlfriend? Stevie didn't see how they could hide it with Lindsey living at her house. Were they supposed to act like they weren't together when the kids were there? Would Lindsey need his own bedroom? Stevie wasn't sure of all of the answers. She just wanted them to all be a happy family together but would it be too much to ask? Her head was spinning and she was feeling so overwhelmed. Lindsey rubbed her shoulder. "Baby, are you ok?" he asked. Stevie knew he was sensing her tension. Lindsey always knew how she was feeling. She sighed. "I don't know Lindsey. I'm just so anxious about getting home and seeing how everything is going to unfold." she told him. "Stevie I won't let Kristen anywhere near you again. You have nothing to worry about." he tried to reassure her. She shook her head. "It's not Kristen I'm worried about. Well I mean I would be lying if I said I wasn't a little worried about what is going to happen with her. But that's not really what I'm worried about. It's the kids." she said almost apologetically. She could tell he was confused. "What about the kids? What has you worried? You know the kids love you." he told her. "I know that they do now Lindsey, but right now I'm fun crazy Stevie. Soon I'll be Daddy's girlfriend. Are they going to like me in that role? I'm worried about how much they know about the situation. Will they hate me for taking Daddy away from Mommy? And what if they don't know? Are we going to tell them? They're going to be staying at my house, I mean are we together or are you staying at Stevie's because she's your best friend until you're ready to tell them? I just have a lot of what ifs and they are really getting to me." she confessed. She could tell from the look on Lindsey's face that he hadn't once considered any of this. She was a little frustrated because she thought he would have a plan for all of this. She knew he had been just as surprised about the turn of events as she had, but these were his children! Hadn't he thought of this at all? She watched him for a few minutes, knowing he was trying to sort all of this out in his head. He finally sighed and she knew he was ready to talk about it. "I'm not sure how this is all going to go. I wouldn't think that Kristen would tell them about all of this. Surely she would be afraid that they would know everything she had done to you if she told about us. I think they're going to be fine with it, they are young. I don't want to hide our relationship any longer, but I am worried about how they will take the divorce. It might be hard for them to go straight from Mommy and Daddy aren't together anymore to Daddy is going to marry Stevie. I'm honestly not sure how the kids are going to handle any of it. I love you Stevie and I won't ever deny that but I think until we can spend some time with the kids and feel out the situation that maybe we shouldn't be so upfront with our relationship. Will you be ok with that?" he asked nervously. She knew he didn't want to hurt her and he was afraid that not telling his kids about their relationship would do just that. "Baby we have to worry about what is best for the kids. I love them like they are my own. I don't want to hurt them or confuse them. I have no problem doing what's best for them. At least we'll all be together anyway. We will have to get one of the room ready with your stuff. We can't exactly not tell them about us if you are coming to bed with me every night." she said. "Aww no fair Stevie!" he whined playfully. He lifted her chin so that her face was raised toward his and kissed her lips softly. "Thank you for being understanding Stevie. I love you." he told her. She kissed him this time then said, "I love you too Lindsey. So much."
