Stevie woke up the next morning to find Lindsey stroking her hair gently, watching her face very carefully. She smiled up at him as she reached for his hand intertwining their fingers together. "Good morning baby." she said quietly, hoping his mood would improve. Yes what had happened yesterday with Kristen was unexpected and apalling, but it was over, Kristen was gone. She didn't really feel bad, her head did hurt, but it wasn't anything she couldn't deal with. Stevie was chosing to look at the silver lining of the terrible situation. Kristen had found out, yes, but Stevie was here in Lindsey's arms. He was divorcing her and moving into Stevie's home. It was what she had hoped would happen. Well minus Kristen's freak out. Lindsey looked down at her gently brushing her hair out of her eyes. "Mornig. Are you feeling ok?" he asked worriedly. "Lindsey, you're making a bigger deal out of this than it really is. I'm fine. Really." she said and then paused before adding, "I suppose we're going to have to leave today." She sighed when he nodded. "I'm sorry baby. I don't really want to go either." he said sadly. Stevie tried to hide her disappointment and then got up. "It really has been a wonderful trip. We missed out on the best places." she sighed again saying, "I suppose I should get ready now." She kissed Lindsey before she grabbed her things carrying them into the bathroom. She stepped into the shower and allowed the hot water to wash away some of the soreness from her body. She hadn't realized she was so sore until she had gotten up. She saw her bruised arm and was glad that she had picked out a long sleeve top to wear. She wanted Lindsey to get out of the mood he was in and she knew if he saw the marks he would be continually reminded. She wanted to at least enjoy their last little bit of time alone before they had to go back to their regular lives. She dried off and slipped into her robe before looking in the mirror. "Oh hell, this looks great!" she said sarcastically to herself. Her cheek had started to bruise and it looked absolutely terrible. No wonder Lindsey kept staring at her like he was. She couldn't go out looking like this. She set to work, expertly covering the bruise until you couldn't even tell it was there. She finished getting ready and walked out of the bathroom. Lindsey was in the sitting area having packed all of their things. She supposed she must have taken quite awhile. He looked up at her expectantly and she saw him scanning her face looking for any sign of her bruises. She sensed his relief when he didn't see them. "Are we leaving now?" she asked. "Yeah, someone's on their way to get our things, the car is waiting." he said. "Sorry I took so long, I didn't realize we were in that much of a rush." she said trying to hide her disappointment yet again. She really didn't want to leave. He pulled her close and planted kisses on her head, face, then finally her lips. She was trying to intensify the kiss when the bellman came to take their things. He pulled away from her to open the door but then was right back by her side. He wrapped his arm around her and walked her down to the car. She smiled to herself thinking about how protective he was being. She used to find it suffocating, now she was finding it endearing. They finally got to the plane and she leaned her head on his shoulder. She was sad they were leaving, but she realized that as long as they had each other nothing else mattered. She closed her eyes and let herself fall asleep wrapped in his arms.

Lindsey could tell Stevie was trying to hide her disappointment at having to go home. He just didn't really see a way around. She smiled at him and walked into the bathroom leaving him to his thoughts. He knew she was trying to downplay the whole situation. He hoped she wasn't hurting in anyway. He was determined not to leave her side. He would keep her safe. He was caught off guard by his ringing telephone, but answered it. "Hello?" he said. He was greeted by a familiar voice. His lawyer. "Hey, I've got some good news for you." he said before quickly adding, "We've filed today and your first court date is in two weeks. We have a pretty good case here." "Ok, that's great, great news." Lindsey said excitedly. The wheels were spinning in his head. He had an idea to cheer Stevie up. He quickly ended the call with his lawyer and immediately got on the phne to charter a flight. Stevie loved Italy and he thought a romantic week in Capri would be just the thing they needed. He would let her think that they were going home and couldn't wait to see the shocked look on her face when they arrived. He booked their suite and arranged for all of Stevie's favorite things to be there when they arrived. He could hear her that she was almost finished getting ready so he quickly packed up their things and called a car. He carried their things to the sitting area and worked to empty himself of all excitement and maintain a somber expression. He didn't want her to have any clues. He thought he had managed to be convincing enough. She was asleep on his shoulder unaware of the surprise that was coming. Lindsey was so excited to do something to make her happy. He could feel that they were descending so he decided to start waking up Stevie. He kissed her cheek. "Baby, we're about to land." he said softly. No response from her but he wasn't surprised. He laughed to himself, it was always so hard to wake up Stevie. He kissed her lips and felt her respond. He pulled back from her laughing. "I should have known that is what would wake you up! We've just landed." he said smiling at her sleepy face. "Mmmm, have I really been asleep for that long?" she asked, trying to sit up. He nodded his head, "You've slept the whole flight." he told her, not exactly lying. She had slept the entire flight it just hadn't been as long as she thought it would be. They got off the plane and into the waiting car. "What airport did we fly into Linds?" she asked looking around not recognizing where she was. "Oh, just with the short notice we flew into a smaller one." he said, hoping she believed him. He watched her face and could tell that she was confused. He watched her looking out the window trying to place something familiar. This was not LA. "Lindsey, where are we?' she asked finally. She looked over at him seriously, she knew they weren't in LA. He laughed, "Well, I thought I'd surprise you. We're in Capri." he told her, waiting for her reaction. She quickly turned back around and threw herself across the seat into his arms. "Oh my god Lindsey! I can't believe you didn't this!" she screamed with a huge smiled on her face. "I thought we could use some extra time together. You're happy?" he asked. She nodded furiously. "I'm so happy you did this." she said sincerely. He watched her smile turn from joyous to seductive as she kissed him again and said, "Maybe I can show you how much I appreciate it when we get to our hotel." she said sexily. Lindsey couldn't help but think what a lucky man he was.

The hotel Lindsey had chosen for them was fabulous. Honestly she was surprised because Lindsey isn't ever much of a stickler for details such as this. When they walked into their suite she couldn't believe how beautiful it was. The balcony had a fantastic view but Lindsey had also had the room filled with her favorite things. She smelled her favorite incense, the room was full of candles, and several dozen roses. She squeezed his hand tightly and said, "Oh Lindsey this is perfect, thank you so much!" He smiled at her and led her out onto the balcony. "It really is beautiful isn't it?" he asked her. "Yes, it is Lindsey. I can't believe we have a week here, just the two of us. What ever are we going to do with our time?" she asked mischeviously. He gave her a wicked grin and pulled her back into the room. They both felt very overwhelmed by the intensity of the moment and Stevie wanted him right then. She didn't want to wait and was getting frustrated with him taking everything so slowly. After a minute she realized that his touches were gentle and soft, he was trying to be careful with her was all. She was touched by the gesture but her desire was overwhelming and she decided to take control of the situation. She was going to prove to him that she was fine and not something fragile. She wanted him intensely and she showed him. She could tell Lindsey was anxious at first at letting her take control and at her intensity but she quickly erased those thoughts from his mind. She wanted him to think about nothing except the two of them and the passion they felt for each other. They made love until Stevie was so exhausted she just couldn't continue. As he lay breathing heavily next to her, hands in her hair she knew their first day in Italy had been successful.

Stevie felt like the days were flying by and she wanted desperately to reach out and grab hold of them. She was having the time of her life. She wished that she and Lindsey had realized that they could be like this 20 years ago and saved themselves the heartache of being without each other. She supposed it happened how it was supposed to though, maybe the years had been the change. She sometimes beat herself up for leaving him all those years ago but she just couldn't do it anymore. She needed to let go of their past. Wishing she would have done things differently wouldn't change anything. She had Lindsey now and she had more of him than she had ever had before.  She was getting curious about what would be going on when they got home as they were nearing the end of the trip. She finally asked him that night while they were drinking their wine on the balcony. "Lindsey, what's the plan when we get home? What's going on?" she asked. She assumed he was coming home with her but she also wanted to know what to expect as far as the kids were concerned. She would love for them to all live in her home, but she didn't know if that was something he would want to do right away. "Well we have our first hearing in like a week. We'll work out a temporary arrangement with the kids then. My lawyer thinks it won't be too much of a battle. She can't pull adultery on me over you, well should could I suppose but she's been unfaithful as well so it would kind of cancel out. From what her attorney has implied she won't fight me for joint custody. Apparently my lawyer told hers that if she fought me on it then we would have to bring up her violent history." he told her. He hadn't really answered the question that she wanted though. "I mean, about us, our living situation." she clarified. She watched his face looking trying to read him as he took his time to answer. Finally he looked at her and seemed confused. "Well Stevie I thought when we left here it was us again. You know we were a couple. I assumed we'd all live at your house. I can figure something else out if you're not ready for that yet." he said, his voice sounded disappointed. He had taken it the wrong way, she would have to fix this before she couldn't change his mood. "No, no Lindsey that's not what I meant at all. I would love for us all to live together. That's what I was hoping for. We can be our own little family and that totally makes me happy. I just didn't want to expect you to move in with me and be disappointed when we got home and you went somewhere else." she explained. She thought he seemed to believe her. "You're not getting rid of me that easy Nicks!" he teased her. "Wouldn't dream of it." she said airily blinking her eyes at him playfully. He held her in his arms and nipped at her ear. "I really do love you Stevie, more than I have ever loved anyone else." he told her, voice ringing with sincerity. "I know Lindsey, you have always loved me more than anyone else ever did. I always have loved you more than anyone else. I always will." she said. She convinced him to take her for a walk on the beach. The stars seemed to be so bright and everything about this night had been perfect. She was so happy to have him by her side. And kids finally to have kids in the house? That she would take care of? It was all she ever wanted. She couldn't help but smile as she thought of preparing her house for children to live in. Lindsey was finally giving her the life she had always wanted for them.
