Elizabeth's POV
"I see.." I said biting my lip turning away. "But I'm in no condition to help you I never asked to be a descendant either."
Garroth looked towards me. "We know that you're not in condition to help but it will help us. we think the shadow lord is planning something big not to mention he's after Aphmau and her daughter." Garroth said.
"Her daughter? Wait hold on she had a daughter? I thought she only had two sons." Elizabeth said quickly.
"Oh I'm surprised you know about that." Garroth said
"Well I know about it since I was a head guard of a village. I needed to know what's going on around the region as well. Phoenix Drop fell into disarray well I heard." I said looking down sadly. I know how it feels to see a village you love destroyed.
"Thankfully now it's repaired and it's actually the capital of Ru'an as well." Garroth said smiling.
"That's amazing thank Irene but/" I cut off as I heard coughing coming from the other room. Oh Laurance I completely forgot?! I went rushing in to his bed side. There he was looking much better than the last time I saw him and awake as well sitting up. "Laurance are you alright?" I said look worried over him.
Both Hyra and Garroth came in as well with Garroth was leaning off to the side not looking at Laurance. Laurance looked up towards me looking me up and down at my bandages covering my body. Laurance had a big bandage covering his side. He began to speak in a raspy voice. "I'm feeling a lot better than I was before." Laurance than looked around the room and then towards Garroth his face looked like a mixture of happiness and guilt. He quickly looked down. "What's wrong?" I asked confused I thought Laurance was good friends with him?
The Garroth spoke up. "What's wrong is he left everyone including his own family." He said bitterly.
He moved closer to Laurance. "Do you know what happened while you were gone Laurance? You left cadenza your own sister and everyone in Phoenix drop. You left Aphmau someone you swore to protect! And me, someone who you considered a brother. Do you have any idea how hurt everyone was that you just disappeared?!" Laurance started leaning down onto the bed farther just taking everything Garroth he was saying to him. Laurance wincing at his words.
I stood up and glared at Garroth. "Do you think it's the right time to be yelling at him right now? I don't know what happened between you two but in no way is it right to be yelling at him when he's in this condition!"
Garroth looked slightly shocked by my outburst but then quickly covered it with a glare of his own. "You don't even know what Aphmau had to go through. She was a mess, not even angry at you. You were supposed to be there to make her smile again do you have aany idea how long that took her after Aaron died."
Laurance cut him off by holding up his hand. "I know what I did was stupid but at the time I wasn't thinking straight. I knew she was pregnant with Aaron's child, I felt betrayed. I thought that I had a claim on her since I thought I deserved it, seeing I risked my life for her. But I was wrong... I can't even express how sorry I am for leaving her and everyone. You especially since you were my brother in arms... I was jealous of Aaron, confused as to why she would choose him. So I thought I would go start a rebellion against the shadow lord but... it failed and I was chased out of the nether to where I met her." He gestured towards me. "She looked so scared all alone she was about to be attacked by Shadow souls so I got rid of them. I looked towards her she looked so shocked that I helped her. But it was just the guard in me wanting to protect someone.... it's strange I felt as if it was my obligation to protect her. She got captured by the Shadow lord and well I saw she transformed. Just like what You did three years ago Garroth. I somehow found Vylad in the woods and explained the situation to him." Laurance started holding his head in his hand looking like he was in pain.
Hyra walked towards Laurances side then spoke up. "I think that's enough talking for now from all of you, Laurance and Elizabeth you need to rest."
Garroth didn't let any emotion pass his face as he walked out the room and Laurance had guilt written all over his face. I looked sadly between the two. These two were like brothers yet their relationship was so distant now.
Hyra looked towards me. "Elizabeth, don't mind Garroth alright you can sit near Laurance."
I look at her shocked. "I thought you said we needed to rest?""Well Laurance does but you should eat some food you look starved." She's not wrong I totally forgot how hungry I was. My stomach grumbled at the mention of food. I looked towards her and nodded as she handed me and Laurance food. "After you're done you two should sleep." She said as she left the room.
Times skip~
As me any Laurance finished the food awkward silence filled the air around us. Laurance decided to speak up. "I'm sorry you had to see that." Referring to Garroths outburst. I looked at him questionably. "Why did you let him talk to you like that?." I said curious.
"Because I deserved it- I left everyone for a stupid reason. I doubt Garroth will even forgive me never mind Aphmau." He said looking down.
"Laurance I agree it was stupid, but at least you did something good." I sad sincerely.
"What I did didn't change anything, though. I shouldn't even be here I don't deserve anything from them I left them when they needed me." Laurance said looking down.
"You saved me.." I said softly. "I mean if you count that as something." Laurance looked at me softly with his baby blue eyes. "Laurance I don't know what you've been through, but I owe you my life let me help you."
Laurance nodded. "I just did what I thought was right."
"You did what a guard should do, protect the innocent."
"But you also saved me as well, do you realize that you could've left me? I didn't deserve your help."
"Don't say that." I place my hand on his. "You shouldn't say that about yourself, you had your own reasons for leaving. But that has nothing to do with me. If you don't stay here with Aphmau then I won't either." Laurance then looked slightly shocked. "I'll protect you, since you saved me alright." I said looking towards him. He started to get a faint blush on his cheeks.
"I can protect myself. If anything it's you who needs protection." Laurance said looking away.
"Alright then, how about we protect each other then since your being stubborn?"
Laurance looked mock offended. "Me? Stubborn? I beg your pardon."
"You wouldn't even let me help you when we were in the nether but for now we're safe so just get better alright." I said as I got up.
Laurance's POV
Why does she care so much? Damn I can't believe I'm the one that needs protecting now. I smirked I decided to speak up. "For anything, Elizabeth I think is you who's stubborn."
She looked towards me with her blue eyes. "I've been told." She smirked and turned back to the door.
Wow, that was the first time I've seen her smile. Obviously it wasn't a full smile but still why did my heart race just now.
