Chapter 4: Blackmail

Aiden's POV

The beautiful sandy beach in combination with the clear ocean water. I'm at the beach with my groupmates Chloe, Shaun, Augustine, and Kara. Chloe and Shaun are always together, I think they'd make a cute couple. Kara and Augustine on the other hand, don't fit each other too well. Kara reminds me a little bit of Elliot, and Augustine reminds me of Sophia, they're both really quiet at times. I still can't believe how fun yesterday was with the 5 of them. I really have to treat Felix to lunch sometime to thank him. Enough about yesterday, I should focus on getting to know my own groupmates.

We all go inside a small hut that is owned by Chloe's dad. She tells us all to get ready because we're all going to try surfing. I go inside a room to get changed, I change into my rash guard and trunks. Suddenly, Chloe and Shaun enter the room without knocking.

"So, Aiden. Is this your first time going surfing?" Chloe asks.

"Not really, I went surfing with my family a few weeks ago," I said.

"Tell us, what happened yesterday? In Anastasia's house?" Shaun asks.

I tell them everything we did from start to finish in a very summarized way.

"What made you so comfortable with that Felix kid anyway?" Chloe asks.

"Why? What's wrong with Felix?" I said.

"C'mon, it's obvious he likes Scar. I mean the way he looks at her. It's so obvious." Shaun says.

"I don't see a problem with that," I say.

Chloe stands up, comes next.

"We know you like Scar..." she whispers.

"I wonder what Felix would think if he knew you liked her too...or maybe we tell Scar about your past relationship," Shaun says with a grin on his face.

"Are you blackmailing me?" I ask.

"If you do everything we say, nothing bad will happen to any of them," Shaun says.

"And if I refuse?" I say in hesitation.

"You lose all chance with Scar and you may lose your friendship with Felix," Chloe says.

"Why are you doing this? I thought you were Scarlette's friends?" I say in anger.

"We WERE her friends. Ever since she started hanging out with that band of mischiefs, she stopped talking to us, she doesn't even look at us anymore." Chloe says.

"It's like she forgot that we existed in her life," Shaun said.

"Do you think Scarlette will come back to you if you blackmail me?" I ask feeling pity for them.

"There's no guarantee, but if she doesn't come back to us, we'll make sure to ruin her friend's life in the process," Chloe says in an evil tone.

Before I could say if I agree or not, Kara comes into the room.

"What's going on guys?" Kara asks.

"Nothing, we were just telling him a little about surfing," Chloe says with a fake smile on her face.

They get out of the room, I hesitate to go with them, but since my friendship with Felix and my chances with Scarlette are at stake, I have to act like nothing happened.

I go outside, Chloe, Shaun, Kara, and Augustine are there, the 3 of us pretend like nothing happened, but I can't help but get worried because I was with 2 people that were blackmailing me. I thought to myself, "I'm sure Felix would understand...but if Scarlette knew my past...she might stay away from me...".

After we went surfing, we all sat around a table. Augustine wanted to play a game to know each of us better, Chloe suggested a game of truth or dare. I was so nervous that I could feel my heart.

Since Augustine wanted a game he went first. Kara asks him a question as she squeezes his hands.

Kara: Truth or dare?

Augustine: Truth.

Kara: Who do you like in our class?

Augustine: I like everybody.

Kara: I mean, who do you LIKE LIKE?

Augustine: uhhh...I like...Sophia.

Kara: Wow! Sophia huh😏.

Augustine: Shhh please, I don't want her to know.

Shaun: You're turning red HAHAHA.

Augustine: Can we please move on to the next turn.

It was my turn, I was so nervous because Chloe and Shaun were the ones to give me a question.

Chloe: Aiden, Truth or dare?

Aiden: ...Dare.

Shaun: We dare you to tell us who you have a crush on.

Aiden: .....

Chloe and Shaun look at me with a grin, I'm sure they're expecting me to say Scarlette.

Aiden: No one, I genuinely don't have a crush on anyone.

Chloe: Yea, we don't buy it.

Aiden: Sorry, but that's the truth.

Chloe: Hm..ok.

It was Chloe's turn, she chose truth. I asked her what was her opinion that Scarlette was hanging out with Felix, Sophia, Elliot, and Anastasia instead of her and Shaun.

Chloe: I have nothing against them, whoever Scar wants to be with I'm fine with that. Even if that means that she doesn't talk to us anymore.

It was obvious by her answer that we were all lying at that point, to keep our own little secrets saved.

The game finished, everyone went home except for Me, Chloe and Shaun. It was obvious that the three of us were lying during our little game or truth or dare.

"You're safe for now, Aiden," Chloe says.

"The moment we find an opening, we will ruin your life and all of your friends' life." She warns.

I went home, I couldn't help but be scared. Normally, I would tell Felix what happened, but since my reputation is at risk with him and the others...I can't. For now, I have to keep this only to myself.

I thought about it, I have to fight back, but what can I do, they will reveal everything I've done if I disagree. UGH! I HATE THOSE TWO! I try to keep myself calm, for now, I have to keep them safe from Chloe and Shaun, I don't what they're capable of anymore.

The feeling I had today, was the opposite of what I had yesterday. Fear consumed me on this day, and it will consume me whenever I see those two assholes. DAMN IT!

After what happened in the past, I thought this year would be different, but it sounds like it isn't...I thought of taking my own life, but I saw the picture that Sophia took with all six of us together smiling. I thought to myself, "The problem will end if I take my own life...but my friends will feel sorrow and grief." Their happiness comes first, I can't afford to hurt any of them. I have to do something about Shaun and Chloe and fast.
