"Good work on figuring out that case Lieutenant (L/n). I'm now going to assign you to the new deviant case and investigate all reports that have to do with deviants. I need you to get her as much info as possible about how we can take down these deviants. Understood?" Captain Fowler asked of you. He was your boss so it wasn't like you could say no.
"Understood." You said before exiting the office and making way to the lunch room to brew yourself some fresh coffee. You were on a night shift the other night for your mission that you completed which meant that all the coffee shops were closed at the moment and you couldn't get coffee or energy drinks for that matter. You also forgot to make yourself some this morning back at your house. You let out a lengthy yawn but then stopped short when you felt a pair of hands on your waist.
"Looks like Sleeping Beauty turned up to work instead of hard ass Lieutenant-" Before the voice could continue, you elbowed him on the stomach and shoved him away from you which caused him to stumble and fall on his ass.
"Keep up with he attitude, Reed... And you will end up dying alone." You snapped as you took your cup of coffee. You stepped towards him and glared "And guess what?" You asked. Before you could answer. You raised your foot and stomped your heel about an inch away from his crotch causing him to flinch and pale. You then leaned towards his face. "I won't be at your funeral." You hissed before walking off satisfied that you probably made Gavin shit his pants. You made way to your desk though began to slow down when you noticed someone sitting at the empty desk right across from yours. You forrowed your brows and made way over to the man which you soon realized was actually an android. "Not to be rude or anything. But what are you doing here?" You asked as you slowly sat down in your chair and set your coffee down. The androids chocolate brown eyes lifted up to look at you. His face was symmetrical and his air was pulled back and neat though had a stray hair hang over his forehead. He had a few freckles here and there and to you, he honestly looked like a lost puppy.
"Hello! My name is Connor. I'm the Android sent by Cyberlife. I was told to accompany you on your missions and help with deviant cases." He informed you in a quite formal way. It made you slightly uncomfortable though you didn't show it. You instead raised a brow and leaned back on your seat.
"You sure you were sent for me and no one else?" You asked. You didn't hate androids if you were to be honest. You just didn't feel comfortable around them. You mistake them for humans a lot and it doesn't help that they look, sound and even act like human. To you, it was honestly easy to confuse an Android with a human. Even with the android outfits.
"You are Lieutenant (L/n), right?" he asked you and stared at you as if he was trying to read your expression and your eyes. You let out a sigh.
"Yup." You said popping the p "That's me alright. But I still don't understand why they decided to team you up with me. I work better alone." You said and took a sip of your coffee before it got cold.
"Yes. But Cyberlife figured that if I join you, we can solve the deviant case a lot quicker and I can help you get info off of things you might not be able to access. Such as the memories to an android if they wish to not speak to you. I'm also able to scan a deviants stress levels and make sure they dont self destruct." Connor had replied nonchalantly. You stared at him for a moment before signing and changing your attention to your computer and scrolled through emails and case files. Connor left you be but kittle did you know, he was scanning your desk for anything. He saw a photo of your family, noticed cat hair on your coat, the picture of you at a concert for your favorite band. He even scanned your coffee and noted what your favorite kind was. "Thats a nice picture of you and your family. Are you close with them?" he asked causing your to pause and glance at them. You glanced at the picture that he was talking about before shaking your head.
"No... No not really..." You replied and turned to your computer avoiding eye contact with Connor. You had hopped you wouldn't have been asked that question. But you couldn't blame him since he was most likely under the impression that your family was nice and good to each other thanks to the picture.
Lieutenant (L/n) Status: Cold
Connor frowned and tried to change the subject to something you might like. "Do you have any pets?" he asked you with a smile. You glanced at him then down at your jacket noticing the small amount of cat fur.
"Observant, aren't you?" You teased before giving him a full response. "Yes I do. Her name is Double. I named her that because one side of her face is all ginger while the other one is pitch black. She even has different colored eyes." You explained with a smile. You pulled out your phone and showed him a cute picture of her. Connor looked at it and then smiled.
"She is very cute." Connor pointed out as he glanced back to look at you. You let out a small chuckle.
"Yeah she is. She's a sweet cat too." You said and looked at the picture before putting your phone away. "By the way. You can scroll through the case files through the computer in front of you." You added before turning to your own computer.
Lieutenant (L/n) Status: warm
Connor turned to the computer and looked through and quickly at that. "247 case files that have to do with deviants." He spoke out. You rolled your head and fell back in your chair and rubbed your temples. "Though there is one that sparks my interest. Someone by the name of Carlos Ortez had been killed by his own android. Reports say that there was some red ice also involved." he spoke out. You let out a groan and ran a hand through your hair.
"I was really hoping I would be able to take a break from my previous mission. Yet here we are..." You muttered not wanting to get up. Connor got up and went over to you.
"Look... I know your exhausted from-"
"Can it Connor" You hissed. "Give me a few damn minutes before we go." You added. You attempted to relax once more until a coworker came up to you.
"Sorry to bother you Lieutenant. But a case file has been brought up. I think you should go check it out." He said as calmly as he could. You let out an annoyed sigh before getting up from your seat.
"Come on Connor..." You growled and fished your keys from your pocket. Connor got in the passenger seat. He was about to speak but you ended up blasting music in order to avoid conversation. You honestly weren't in the mood for it. Especially since you stayed up so late and barely got any sleep. Not only did that. But you weren't able to get some coffee through out that time period. It also didn't help that Gavin was up your ass bother literally and figuratively this morning. But you just kept your eyes on the road ahead of you and avoided talking for even looking at connor for the whole car ride.
