As soon as mom goes out of the attic, Chris comes in. He seems exhausted and worried.
"Wyatt, the demon we interrogated attacked me" he says.
"Oh, how did you vanquish him?" I ask.
"That's the other part.. I didn't" he answers "I just saw a black hoddie going out and ashes on the ground"
"And you didn't follow whoever that was?"
"I could barely move" he says.
I nod "Did you know Cole is sort of dead?"
Chris expression is to never be forgotten, a mix between scared and worried. "Who told you that?" He asks.
"Well, a demon told us. Mom already knew, they just told us a fake history" I answer "Why are you worried anyway? He is dead"
"Because if he is dead, then we have no clue about who is after us, Wyatt" he is right, we are in blank again... or maybe not.
"Well, a demon told us Belthazor hired him to get the book, maybe he isn't really dead" I say.
"What demon? What happened while I was gone?"
...
It took me 10 minutes to tell Chris about our little trip to the underworld, the demons we vanquished and Lex wanting to kill us.
"What if he is lying?" Chris implies.
"Well, I don't know" I answer.
"He made you throw the potions so he could have easily lied" he continues "I think nobody hired him, I think he is behind all of this"
"You should tell mom what you think" I propose.
"I will" he says "On the other part, I think dad was my saver, the hoddie"
"Why do you say that?" I ask.
"When I got home he already knew how the demon was going to kill me. He said he read it on the book of shadows but I don't believe him"
"I always thought somebody of the family was helping us. It could easily be dad" I say.
"We should ask mom where he was the day we found the demon we interrogated" he proposes.
"But there's no way he could have gone to the underworld, he has no powers" I answer. Chris seems to agree.
But then I realize it, the elders have been orbing him, maybe they are behind this too "The other day the elders orbed dad home. They could be behind this too"
"Really? Why hadn't you told me?" He asks.
"Well, things between us have been a little tense and it was the same day of the exam"
"Okay. We should go tell mom"
I nod and we both go downstairs. At the end of the stairs I get to see mom sitting on the couch on the living room.
"Mom, we have to talk about dad" I tell her from across the stairs.
"What about him?" she looks across the living room and back to us. We go where she is and dad is standing on the other side of the room.
"Yes, what about me?" He asks.
I put my hand in the back of my head "Well, dad..." I start.
"Did you save me today?" Chris interrupts.
"What?" Dad says, he seems confused, maybe he isn't the hoddie after all.
"You know, today when Amy left and I went to the restroom" Chris starts to yell "Just tell the truth!"
"Chris, slow down" mom intervines putting a hand in front of him.
"I won't calm down!" He yells louder and points to dad "You know you don't need to do this!"
Dad looks at me, expecting me to be against Chris but I think the same as Chris ans we have to stop dad before he gets himself killed. Dad now looks at my mom, expecting for more defense, but instead she looks at him with a "tell the truth" expression. He now looks at Chris.
"Chris, think about it. How could I have known you were at the coffee shop? I am not the one behind this, I know you can handle it by yourselfs"
"You are lying" Chris demands "Stop saving our asses everytime a demon attacks! We can handle it" he puts both his hands in the back of his head and looks at me, expecting some help.
I decide to talk "Dad, look at us... And be honest. If you were Chris saver just say it"
He looks at us for some seconds that felt like eternity and finally answers "I wasn't"
"Guys, go upstairs, dad has had enough" mom says while pointing to the stairs.
We both go upstairs to my room, Chris closes the door behind him.
"He is freaking lying!" Chris says.
"Maybe he isn't" I answer.
"You didn't notice" he starts "I never told dad I was at the cooffe shop, he already knew it"
I stare at him, I don't know what to think, it is nice from dad to take that risk for us but he knows that angers us, it makes us crazy when they think we need the help, and we can't see him taking a risk like that, risking his own life.
Mom opens the door, she seems angry, sad and confused all at the same time.
"We took a decision" she says "Any of us are doing anything related with magic the rest of the week, we are all taking a break"
For a minute, I think it's a good thing but then I look at Chris, his expression reflects the anger of the entire world.
"You can't do that!" He yells.
"Yes Chris! I do can!" Mom is also yelling "Decision is took" she closes the door.
"Well" I start "Do you want to come to a party on friday? I am going"
"I guess so. I won't have anything else to do" he goes out of the room and closes the door.
"Great" I whisper to myself. I don't know what's great cause anything is, we can't use any magic, we can't keep on working on discovering who is trying to kill us, I don't know if a party looks good with this issues. We'll just have to wait.
