Friday night, I am getting ready for the great party today, it will be on Daniel's house, a guy from the school well known for making big parties, he once had a band most of the school likes live in his backyard, which is pretty big, by the way.
I put on a black t-shirt, combined with my simple blue jeans and black shoes, the best ones I have, the ones dad brang from a trip to Dallas. I look at myself in the mirror which reflects my door and the hallway, making sure my clothes are fine, clean, perfect. I catch Kate going through the Hallway with her pijamas on, if she is attending the party she has to change now.
"Kate" I call her from my bedroom. She takes some steps back and looks at me.
"Huh?" She answers.
"Change now, you don't want to go to the party dressed like that" I know she has things to wear. For some reason, Kate had to leave her old apartment quickly, leaving her clothes and all her stuff there, in Miami, so she asked Chris for an orb, without my parents noticing, and got at least her clothes.
"A storm is hitting the city" she glances at my window. The weather had one crazy from yesterday to today, a storm is actually going to happen.
"And so? We can be in or outside the house" I turn to look at Kate, leaving the mirror in my back.
"How can you guys attend a Party?" she puts her hair behind her ears, staring at me, waiting for the answer.
"Why not a party?" I claim. Who is wrong with parties? She is younger now, she is practically living her life again, she should be having a lot of more fun.
"Don't you see how intense everything is?" She adds "Your parens nearly talk to me and I don't even know why, I'm back, shouldn't they be happy?" She puts her head down, her blonde hair covering her face. There could be a thousand reasons why my parents have been that quiet, mom is probably confused cause she thought she wouldn't see her aunt again, or angry cause she left the house, or sad cause she's going to leave at some point, or intrigued a lot about her life.
"That is the exact reason why you have to come to this party" I get closer to her, take her chin with my hand and put her head straight again "To forget about that shit" I go closer, till our mouths touch, her lips warm, a taste of strawberry. After a minute or maybe two, she gets apart.
"You know we can't do that anymore, right?" she claims.
"I've never really followed the rules" I answer, looking at her eyes.
"I guess I'll go with you" she smiles "Let me go change and you know, girls stuff" she walks out of my bedroom, leaving that aroma of that perfume, probably going she bought in miami, or in another one of the places she's been, it doesn't matter, she is beautiful, she is special.
...
We walk out of the house, closing the door behind us. Kate decided to wear a red dress, remarking all her beautie, her blonde her looking brighter, she looks perfect, and taller, by the way, because of the high heels she picked. We go through the garden, avoiding my mom's car parked on the porch, and to my car, a red muztang, well taken care of. I washed it yesterday to make sure I arrived to that party in a relucient car, giving the best impression I could. I open Kate's door, she gets in and I go to my place, driving us to Daniel house.
"Will Chris be going?" Kate asks while she puts the seat belt across her.
"Yes, he must be picking Amy up now" I say while I check the mirrors and arrange my seat belt.
"Uh" she uses a discomfort tone.
"Is something wrong?" I turn on the car, putting it in drive mode.
"He's a little bit noisy" she answers, staring at the street with a worried look on her face.
"He is curious, he has questions, we all do" I add "Is there a problem with the questions?" The street is clear, free for me to go.
"But you're not noisy. And no, I don't have any problem but it is stressing to have somebody asking things all the time" she claims.
"I guess so" is Kate hiding something from us? We know nothing about her past, since she left her family my mother had even forgot about her, keeping just an old picture in a box that would still be unregistered if Chris hadn't been bored, we could have had a normal dinner on wednesday and I could have a normal date, but Kate would still go away and I wouldn't even know why, and this way we can even do something to stop her, making her stay and spend all the time she never spent with us.
