You're friends with Quil Ateara, right?
School had already ended as Paul was driving back to Emily's and Sam's house. Everyone else was already there after school so we just decided to meet them, maybe even talk to Sam and Jared about them being wolves too.
I felt another bundle of nerves as Paul pulled up in front of the secluded house, I felt as if I was meeting everyone over again. God, I must've looked so stupid being left in the dark this whole time.
But as I walked through the front door, Emily gave me a smile from the kitchen reassuring me immediately.
Sam was standing besides her, attempting to help her cook, but once he saw the two of us walk in, he immediately started making his way over.
Jared sensed it too and got up from his spot on the couch, Kim trailing after him.
"So cat's out of the bag," Paul spoke, putting his hands onto my shoulders.
Sam and Jared eyed me, waiting for my reaction.
Before I could make a joke to lighten the mood another thought occurred to me. "So technically, your gang is a pack." I voiced aloud.
That must have broke the tension as smiles appeared on everyone's faces while Jared even chuckled a bit.
I looked between Sam and Jared, "So what do your wolves look like?"
"We can show you!" A prominent grin came on Jared's face as he lightly hit Sam's shoulder, "Let's go!"
He quickly ran out the back door, Sam following him- amused at Jared's joy. The two disappeared into the woods fairly quickly.
Once we were all outside, Emily and Kim hung back a bit, sitting on the porch steps. I made it to the grass however, with Paul standing right behind me.
Then four seconds later, two massive wolves emerged from the woods. My eyes widened in shock once more-I don't think I could ever get used to seeing the boys as wolves.
Paul must have been able to hear my heart quicken as he stepped closer to me, wrapping his arms around me from behind. "It's okay, they're conscious, remember?" He whispered.
I nodded, feeling already more calm at his presence.
As I studied over the two wolves, I immediately could tell who was who.
Jared wolf was a dark shade of brown, lightening near his chest but becoming practically black near his face. He was quite smaller than Paul's wolf but more lean as he stood there-wagging his tail.
Sam wolf however was quite more intimidating. The fur was completely black, no lightening shades anywhere and his wolf was bigger than Paul's. He exerted the same energy as when he was human- power and strength.
"Why is Sam so much bigger?" I asked as Kim and Emily went to go join their boyfriends.
"Sam's alpha." Paul shrugged.
"Wait so you guys have the same power dynamics as a regular wolf pack?" I asked, leaning my head back on his chest to look at him.
He nodded, "Sam's alpha, he was the first one to shift. I was the second so i'm the beta. The thing is though, Sam's able to give out orders under alpha authority, we have to follow them. I would be able to with Jared but there's really no point."
I smiled at him, "I love how you're so nonchalant about this."
A smile stretched on his face, "Sorry. It's just this has been my life for the past year. I guess i'm just numb to it now. But it feels good that I can finally share it with you."
