Let's Go Straighten Out This Puppy
It was in the early hours of the morning that I decided to form a plan.
All night I was thinking about Bella and how she was so close to a coven of vampires. She couldn't have known. I know Paul was adamant about that fact but I could not understand why she would choose to stay around them instead of getting a one way trip out of town.
And as I was tossing and turning I decided to confront her about it, but I had to do it early, before school and before I would see Paul. I knew that I would crack so easily under pressure and tell him my idea to see her.
I returned to the small yet now familiar white house. There was a red truck and police cruiser once more parked on the property.
Unlike last time, I wasn't nervous but more so determined. Now I knew the big secret that was lurking in La Push and Forks.
"Hi, Mr. Swan!" I greeted the tired officer.
"Luna?" He voiced confused.
"Yeah, I just wanted to know if I could talk to Bella again real quick." I pressed.
By now, he should've been able to tell how stubborn I was so he just nodded, stepping aside.
"Thank you!" I called practically bounding up the stairs.
"Bella?" I knocked urgently, "It's Luna again."
The door opened, revealing a tired Bella. She had on a pair of jeans with a long sleeve shirt. I watched as she awkwardly pulled at the bottom hem, trying to smooth through the wrinkles.
Before she could question me, I passed her, walking into her room, "Sorry for just appearing here again, but I really need to talk to you."
"Okay?" She spoke unsurely as she shut her bedroom door.
"I really don't want to beat around the bush or anything but-" I took a breath, "You knew the Cullen's were vampires?"
Her eyes immediately widen and flickered back to the door.
"How do you know?" She spoke in a hush whisper.
"That's not important." I dismissed, "Your boyfriend was a vampire and you chose to be near him? Or did they hurt you? Threaten you? Seriously, Bella, are you okay? "
"What? No!" Bella spoke, exerting the most emotion since I've known her, "Him and his family saved my life countless times. I-" She stopped and her head turned towards the door once more, "We can't talk about this here, okay? Here, I'll text you," she spoke, grabbing the gum wrapper with my phone number. "But we have to talk."
I nodded, agreeing, "Yeah, we really do."
I let myself out again, freezing at seeing Paul leaning against my car.
"Hey," I greeted slowly, walking down the steps.
"Hi," He smiled sheepishly.
"Are you following me?" I asked as I got into the drivers seat.
"Yeah and no," He answered, getting into the passenger, "I was on patrol when I saw you drive by, and I couldn't help myself."
"So you heard my conversation with Bella?" I asked, beginning to drive to school.
He nodded, "Yeah, I didn't mean to or anything but you being anywhere near that girl still makes me nervous. Her ties to the leeches is almost scary...but I didn't think you were going to be so forward about it-you can't tell anyone about us, Aurora."
