Crime Scene- Do Not Cross

"How the hell are we supposed to find this Tyee Fox."

"No the real issue is finding Carter."

"We need to know what happened to Luna."

"What do you mean what happened? She shifted, just like the rest of us."

"With vampire venom in her system, that wasn't a normal phasing."

"They just lost their parents, they shouldn't be dealing with this."

There was a chorus of voices coming from within Emily's and Sam's cabin. Yet as soon as their sensitive hearing detected us, the voices drew to a crawl. Sam was the first to lead us back in, with Paul taking the rear. Inside was a concerning, yet comforting sight, the whole pack had gathered including Billy, Adrien, and Sue.

Without hesitation, I crossed the room to my uncle, hugging him so tightly. "I'm so sorry." I whispered, guilt seeping from me at the fact that Carter had killed his sister, he lost just as much as I had.

A small smile shown through his obvious grief, "You don't have to apologize for anything, we'll get him."

"Come here, kid," Adrien was next to give me a hug. I sucked in a deep breath in his arms. There was never anyone who could replace my dad, but Adrien had become like a second father to me since I've met him. "Don't worry about anything. We have your back."

Glancing back to the past, it was then I realized someone was missing and had been this whole time. "Where's Jacob."

"Has no one told her?" Billy questioned, a hardened edge to his tone.

Sharply, I pulled from Adrien's hug and looked from my uncle to everyone. "Told me what?"

"He got hurt," Jared answered. "A leech got his arms around Jake and shattered practically all his bones."

Paul hastily began reassuring me before my mind could even wander. "He's been healing quickly. He should be up and moving within the week."

I couldn't believe so many of us had been impacted from this fight. This battle started because of the Cullens and Bella, yet the pack suffered a serious blow.

I clenched my teeth. "Is there anything else?"

"No," Sam answered me gently, but his tone changed as he addressed the group, "We need to make a plan."

As soon as the order left his mouth, the rest of the pack began settling in across the living room and kitchen. I strayed near the kitchen, sitting on top of the counter while Paul stood right besides me, arms crossed.

Sam cleared his throat, "Now, we need to-"

"I want to go search for Carter still." Jared interrupted while a chorus of agreements followed.

Sam nodded taking that into consideration, "Alright. Billy and I have discussed it. We think it's best if Adrien and I go looking for Tyee Fox."

I couldn't help but once again interrupt Sam, "I want to go with too."

While his demeanor was stern with the pack, he softened as he looked back to me. "Luna, you need to stay in town."

"No," I argued, "I got you guys into this mess, it's only fair if I help search."

"Their funeral's in two days." Cole rationalized from across the kitchen; Leah rubbed his arm softly.

For a blissful ignorant moment, I had forgotten who he was referring to. All I could mutter in response was 'oh' as my shoulders sunk. Paul gripped my hand as I took a deep breath in order to calm myself.
