What's an Imprint?
"Imprint?" I immediately questioned
My eyes found Paul's frame, which noticeably tensed. His eyes found mine and they widened when he realized I had heard.
I pressed again,"What's an imprint?"
"You haven't told her?" Quill's eyes widened.
"Told me what?" I questioned on the verge of hysterics, secrets and certain death do not mix well when combined in the same day.
"Thank you, Jared!" Paul snapped, yet his eyes softened at me when he came over and took my hand, pulling me away from the group. "Let's take a walk?"
My heart was hammering hard as I looked back to the group, all of their faces revealing half shock and tension.
Yet when my eyes trailed back to Paul, he gave me a reassuring smile, "it's nothing bad, really."
"I thought I knew everything?" I accused, feeling slightly betrayed.
"This was more important to me," He spoke, almost pleading with me, "I wanted to give you time to process the wolf thing before this."
"Fine," I huffed and followed him further into the forest. I figured he would want to go far enough away so no prying wolf ears could listen in.
However, with every step we took, my mind was in overdrive as I was trying to figure out what an imprint is. Jared said 'of course, your imprint would fight with vampires ', so he was referring to me and obviously I would be the imprint. But then he said 'your imprint' does that mean he has an imprint?
Kim flashed through my mind and my eyes widened in realization. Kim was Jared's imprint and Emily was Sam's.
An imprint has something to do with relationships, but wasn't imprinting something animals did?
An image of all the boys as ducks came into my mind and my lips turned up into a slight smirk at the thought.
Paul halted suddenly and turned to me more anxious than I had ever seen. Before he could begin his explanation, I spoke,
"Being an imprint has something to do with me, Kim and Emily, right, about our relationship with you, Jared and Paul? I mean I know animals imprint on someone important to them, someone they trust?"
Paul's tension dissipated into an enormous grin, "You're a genius." But as I gave him no response as I was waiting for him to continue, he once again grew slightly nervous with an underlying tone of confidence.
"It happens at first sight, when we first make eye contact, but there can still be an unintentional pull to her before that happens. That's why when you first moved here, I was hell bent on trying to get you to look at me. I felt some weird pull to you even though I didn't know one thing about you. And of course, you being you-" he shot me a smile, "-,you avoided me at all costs and when the first time I looked in your eyes, my breath was taken away and a warm glow filled me- I knew I was yours, that we'd be unconditionally bonded for life."
I knew exactly what he was referring to, every feeling he underwent, I had gone through the same emotions. "Soulmates?" I offered a small smile coming upon my face.
He nodded, "More like soul-bonding. It doesn't always have to be romantic, it could be you having me as a best friend, brother or lover, but there'd always be a connection with us."
I smiled and put my hand to his face, "I like soulmates more."
His arms wrapped around me but he looked genuinely surprised, "So you're not freaked out?"
