Chapter 20- The Call

I get back to my room and I see Hayes in the window with his board saying

'miss you already :( '

'So close but so far away.' I write.

He draws a heart.

I draw a stick figure of him. With a crown saying 'my prince'

Hayes writes, 'i want you to come over :/'

I write 'trouble baby, come over in the morning first thing'

He writes 'ok girly'

We have a pretty steady white board conversation when I hear my phone go off. FaceTime call from Nash. An hour late. Oh boy. I answer it and wait for it to connect and I wrote Hayes

'Sleepy time now. Goodnight bear. Thanks for being amazing'

He writes back 'goodnight beautiful'

I turn off my light and I plug my lamp in so it looks like I'm sleeping. I pick up my phone and I see Nash and Cameron.

"Hey guys what's up" I say.

"Nothing much gal" Cameron says.

"Can I talk to you Nash. Alone." I say really serious.

Nash gets up and takes the phone up stairs and on the back porch where no one can hear him.

"Let me guess. You made a choice. " He said seriously.

I nod. "Nash it's really hard to say this to you but my heart is with Hayes. What we had was a mystery. And I figured it out. You are a really great guy and I love you like a brother, and I realized, what Hayes and I have is really special, what you and I had was really a mystery. Why was it me? And I ask myself that every time I think of you. I'm so sorry but I don't see us getting further than a few dates. I see Hayes and I forever." I say.

"I see. But this doesn't mean I don't want to be there for you still, I still do and always will." He says. He seems down.

"Yes Nash. And I still want to be there for you too. You are my new brother and we will still need each other. We just aren't a couple now. Well a secret anymore." I say.

"You see I completely know where your coming from here. And your right. We wouldn't have lasted as long as you and Hayes will. Trust me I see it in both of your eyes, the love you two share is something everyone wants. I'm happy for you. And you are right, if I stayed your secret you wouldn't be able to focus on him fully. I completely get it and I'm glad we settled this earlier before anything got bad." He said.

I nod.

"Well on a better note, you made Cheerleading!" he says as he walks back down to where cam was.

"Yes. It was such a good day. And the coach really likes me. Says I have great potential." I say.

"That's great!" he said.

"Yeah!"i say back.

"Well I'm gonna go it bed now it's pretty late here." I say.

They wave by to me and I turn off the lights.

It's like 100 bricks are lifted off of my shoulders now that Nash is out of the picture.
