Honestly, when did he find himself staring at her all the time?

Constantly.

He would watch over her, guide her through her mistakes and thankful that his bangs made him less suspicious.

But then he realised it, he shouldn't be staring at someone else for such a long period of time. It weirds people out, it's creepy, and his bangs aren't always going to save him from ever situation. He started to look away.

Only a simple glance once in a while, that was it. When the two were alone, he'd advert his gaze towards the ground. When they weren't alone, he'd look at someone else.

"Chiba." Hayami said, looking up as she tried to stare into his gaze. "Let's make a bet."

Chiba shifted his gaze a little towards the left. "What kind of bet?"

"If I win..." Hayami explained, referring to the shooting score. "...then I want you to start seeing me in a different light."

Well, that was bold.

It was something he wouldn't have expected her to say, but nonetheless, he agreed. It was better than an uncomfortable silence. "Uh- sure." He shrugged.

Hayami's eyes glinted, she looked away. "When did you decided to stop...watching over me and all?"

Sweat tickled down the back of his neck, he sighed and gave in. "So you noticed..."

"I got used to it, it was nice to know someone who always managed to point out my mistakes - right on time." Hayami continued. "...so I guess, I don't want you to stop."
