Normal POV
It was graduation day and Keyandra was overly excited. Her parents were getting ready for the ceremony and Deja promised to be over in a little bit to get her hair fixed by Keyandra.
Things finally settled down at their school and colleges were lined up for Keke to pick from; lining up from ICDC to Yale, Keke was stressed out trying to pick the right one.
Her final grades were outstanding and her family supported her choice of whatever school she was going to be attending next fall. Keke's principal, Dr. Romano, was giving her the opportunity to speak on behalf of Khalil during their graduation ceremony and to announce what college she wanted to go to. After thinking long and hard for nearly three months, she had finally made her decision.
"Keke, Deja's here. Should I let her up?" Keyandra's mother said as she stood at the door frame of Keke's room. She nodded her head and got the flat iron and hair dryer ready.
On her desk, Keke had plenty of combs and brushes and Bobby pins ready for Deja's hair. She was dedicated into making Deja's hair the best one there at the graduation, certain to outdo everyone's 'do.
"Hey, baby girl. How's it going," Deja asked as she entered Keyandra's room.
Keke released a sigh and shrugged her shoulders. "I dunno anymore. I have less than three hours to make a final decision about what college I wanna go to and yet, I'm still not sure what I want."
Deja took a seat in the chair at Keke's desk and released her wild bush if hair. She washed it that morning when she showered.
"Whatever you decide, I'll be right there with you." Deja reassured confidently.
Keyandra smiled at her only real girl friend and started combing through the knots. They played music in the background while they gossiped about the peers in their school and discussed their astonishment on how they were finally graduating after the hard ups and downs their friendship had went through since attending high school. Deja still couldn't believe she was receiving a full scholarship to Princeton University. All the hard work she did and the extracurricular activities, as well as outside community work she took time to do finally paid off.
"You're only saying that because I'm your favourite best friend," Keke smiled as she worked on her caramel friend's blonde hair.
"You're my only best friend," Deja announced. "Since Logan bailed and Julia stopped talking to us, you were basically the only one who stood by me."
"That's because you were there for me when I went through that depression stage after..." She couldn't finish the sentence; acknowledging Khalil's death was still hard on all of them.
Logan had left town after Khalil committed suicide. She said she needed to find herself and make peace with her inner core. In all reality, she ran away and joined a cult.Everyone lost touch with her after a few weeks of her disappearance.
Julia, that's a whole different story. A while after Logan bailed, Julia started to slip into a depression. Nobody knew why she was becoming depressed but only two people ever questioned it; Sanchez and TJ. Of course, Julia got out of that depression stronger than ever and the only people she kept contact with was, of course, Terrence and Sanchez.
"What type of friend would I be if I didn't?" Deja asked in all seriousness. "You were there to help me with way more things. I couldn't leave you when you were down."
Keke smiled and pinned half of Deja's hair up. She decided to change the subject to something more happy. "So, how's it going with you and Travie?
Deja blushed at the thought of her relationship with Travis Williams. She was madly in love with him and knew that they would last a long time. They discussed not too long ago what their relationship would he like after graduation.
