Khalil POV
"Come on guys. I have someone I'd like you to meet." I said to my siblings.
"Khalil, where are we going?" Gina asked, yawning.
I stood low and pouted. "Are you guys tired?" I asked.
They nodded and yawned. I noticed that the sun has set after hours of walking and thinking. I couldn't tell Avery that I fought with my pathetic drunk excuse for an uncle. I couldn't have him look at me with sympathy the way he does if I fail a test and he passes. I couldn't have my sister and brother around his house anyway considering he has photos of half naked girls all around the room. I'd like my brother to be raised straight but it'd be awkward for my sister.
I pulled my phone out and dialed a very familiar number. It rang four times before her voice brought a smile to my face.
"Hello?" I smiled wider as she answered.

Keke POV
"Hey," I smiled as I answered the door.
In front of me stood Khalil along with two young children. They looked cold and hungry and exhausted. My aunt's home was warm and had food in the refrigerator. I let them in and lifted his younger brother with me. He lifted his sister protectively and followed me to the kitchen.
"Who's this? Your boyfriend?" Kyle asked with a mouthful of food.
I rolled my eyes and sighed. "Naw, but you see this," I pointed to my butt.
He nodded hesitantly and stuffed his mouth.
"Well this is your girlfriend. Kiss it."
Khalil snickered and bit his lip to keep from laughing louder.
"I'm telling Mom!" Kyle whined.
"You're fifteen and still running to your mommy?" I cooed, "Awq. Does the little boy need his bottle?"
Khalil laughed and toppled over, still holding his sister. Kyle rolled his eyes and walked away.
"Sorry about that. That was my cousin, Kyle. He's an idiot sometimes but you get used to it." I shrugged.
I sat Khalil's brother in the high chair my aunt uses when babysitting the Carson twins from down the block. I pointed to the other high chair and told Khalil to sit his sister in it.
I was still mad at him for fighting Issa earlier, but when he called me talking about how he needed a place to stay for the night and that it was urgent, I couldn't say "No."
"What's this about?" I finally asked after feeding his siblings and laying them down to rest.
He sighed and shrugged. "Nothing. Just needed a place."
I furrowed my brows and asked, "Are you homeless?"
He laughed and dismissed the idea quickly. "No! No, not even like that. I just had a fight and couldn't go home like this."
"But you look fine, besides the bruise on your cheek and that bust on your lip. It could be much worse."
"Yeah well it is!" Boom goes the dynamite.
"What're you yelling for?" I yelled back. "I'm helping you out! I don't deserve this," I sighed and took a seat. "I don't deserve this."
He sighed and wrapped his arm around me. "I'm sorry. It's just that this is a lot to handle. I can't tell you what happened, but I wish I could."
I released a sigh and rolled my eyes, already annoyed by him. Why would he ask me for help if he wasn't going to tell me what happened? It was ten o'clock at time and was freezing cold outside. My aunt set up a bedroom for the three of them but Khalil refused to use it. He just wanted Gavin and Gina to sleep there and he'd sleep on the living room floor since it's carpeted. I get he wants best for them, but stubbornness when getting help isn't helping anybody in this situation.
