Khalil POV
"Yo! Khalil! Did you hear?" Avery Chandler, one of my closest friends, said.
"Hear what?" he smiled and wiped his face.
"There's a new chick in school. She's thick!" he exclaimed.
I sucked my teeth and made a face.
"Mane! Last time you said that, broad was as skinny as Bella Thorne!"
Avery sighed and shook his head. "Nah. She's like Blac Chyna thick!"
"Said that too." I smirked, putting books in the top half of my locker.
He sighed and shook his head. He leaned on the locker next to mine and looked at the surrounding view of kids rushing to class, talking to friends, or girls standing at their lockers while giggling while fawning over me and Avery.
"I'm telling you, she a dime!" Every time a new female student came to the school, Avery took it upon himself to offer us up as a welcoming committee. I didn't mind showing a newbie around the school during my free periods, but he would trick me into thinking they were beautiful, gorgeous, beyond that! And in reality, they weren't all that. Some of them looked unacceptable, but shaming somebody on being ugly is a sin in today's society so I couldn't really say that to their faces. Instead, I'd just text Avery his wrongs, or would bring it up later when the new kid wasn't around to hear.
I shook my head. "I'm not getting my hopes up, again!" I said. "And I barely believe that she's pretty. You say that all the time." I laughed at him.
He rolled his eyes and huffed his breath. He folded his arms and looked around the hallway, smiling and nodding at the fawning girls.
I grabbed some books for my next two classes and a pen to finish the day. I walked Avery to his locker down the hall and leaned on his neighboring locker.
He smirked as a girl walked up to us and gave me a look. I didn't recognize her, but she was beautiful.
"Hi. I'm Keyandra. I'm new here. I was wondering if you could help show me where my locker is." Her voice was so quiet and shy. I probably wouldn't have heard her if I wasn't paying attention.
"Sure. Let me see your card, beautiful." Avery said.
She slightly blushed and gave him the card that all students were handed when coming to school for the first time.
"Uh. Bro, ain't this by your locker?" he said, thumbing my arm.
I shook my head of all thoughts and checked out the card. She had locker 232. Mine was 233.
I stood straight and reviewed the note card once more, just to be sure I wasn't just imagining things. I was right, Keyandra had the locker next to mine. Well this should be fun.
"Yup." I said in a deep voice.
Avery chuckled at what I was trying to do and grabbed his books and a pen to put behind his ear.
"Freak." he coughed.
Keyandra looked confused. I smirked and grabbed her small hand.
"Aye, I'll catch you in class." Avery said as I walked towards my locker. "I gotta handle something with this shawty real quick."
"Bet," I called to Avery. Looking back at Keyandra, I smiled and said "Follow me, shawty."
She nodded and followed me.
Multiple girls' gasps were heard as we walked down the halls, followed by remarks and comments on Keyandra.
"Who does she think she is?"
