Keke POV
Ever get so bored in the car that you start counting streetlights as you pass them by? What about when you begin counting trees? What about people? Yeah. Well that's the very same predicament I've found myself in at the moment. That's right, lovelies, I know big words. I may have a C- Average in English, but I do know big words.
Anyways, what would you do in dilemmas like this? Just let life pass you by while you just count random objects?
I knew I had a habit of being overdramatic about these little things, but it's not like I wasn't dying when in fact, we were all slowly dying - technically.
The radio quietly played throughout the car to Romeo Santos ft. Drake - Odio while Aunt Gina drove downtown to the post office. I know I told Khalil that I was going to the supermarket to pick up some meat for dinner, but I also had to change my family's forwarding address to Aunt Gina's address since apparently, we have to stay here a little bit longer. Mother found a bed bug lurking around in the new house and insisted that it be cleansed thoroughly before we moved our furniture in. Now our furniture sat in the big U-Haul truck in the backyard of the new house.
It's been about two or three weeks since the furniture arrived and a month since we'd arrived. I expected to be in my new home and enjoying the comfort of my Temper-Pedic bed by now, but I should've known that Mother would find something to use as an excuse to cleanse the house. I don't blame her for being a neat freak because it has its perks, but it also has some cons, such as taking forever to move in.
"You wanna get some food really quick?" Aunt Gina asked.
I shrugged. "Doesn't really matter to me. I'm not hungry though."
"I'll buy you McDonald's. What you want?" Aunt Gina asked.
"Nothing." I simply said.
She scoffed and shook her head. "You children these days with your attitudes. I don't see why--"
"Auntie, can you not tell me about this stuff now?" I insisted.
She glanced at me before sighing and turning her attention to the road.
"Fine." she said. "But you'll hear it sooner or later."
No I won't.
A few minutes later, we arrived at the post office. Aunt Gina took the keys from the ignition and exited the car, getting the hint that I didn't want to go in. However, I'd still be bored in the car even though I wasn't in the post office. Without the car keys, the music in the car wouldn't play. I knew the trick she was trying to make.
She'd take the keys and turn the car off. I get bored and go to find her to get the keys to play music. She says she needs my help and guilt me into staying. I waste more time just staying with her because she knows that I'm already bored and want to leave so she takes her time. When we finally leave, she babbles about random things leading to another talk about my "attitude" and how time spent with my family is super important because you never know what will happen in the future. Been there, done that. Not looking forward to that again.
After sitting in the car for ten to fifteen minutes, Aunt Gina returned to find me half asleep and singing lyrics to That Should Be Me by Justin Bieber.
"THAT SHOULD BE ME HOLDING YOUR HAND!" I practically screamed.
"Child, you are not a Bieber fan." she said as she turned the engine on.
"Well sorry for getting bored." I discreetly rolled my eyes and averted my gaze out the window.
"You know," Aunt Gina said, "I was thinking about getting you a job at the salon."
