Diana stood in front of her mate drunk on emotions. All kinds of alien feelings occupied her mind. What did I just do? Why do I feel these sparks? Why was that the most amazing high?

She was paralyzed. She was afraid to move because she might faint from the dizzying emotions. So, she did what any normal person would do and stared at Malakai for a long time. Maybe too long? She was definitely entering stalker territory, but what else could she do?

"Um...that was-" Malakai rocked back and forth on his feet nervously."-amazing." The man was aghast. The most beautiful woman in the world just stood up and kissed him! How could he not be a happy fool?

"I-I...um..uh" Diana physically could not put together a sentence. Her mind was clouded by her surprising actions. At least she blinked, her eyelids still worked.

"You wanna do that again?" Malakai asked eagerly.

Diana craned her head up and looked him in the eye, "Yes." Her voice was clear and precise with a hint of commanding.

Malakai instantly snaked his arms around Diana's waist and pulled her flush against him. His new-found confidence surprised both him and his mate.

The two intertwined their lips just like they had minutes before, only this time with slightly more intensity. And just like before a whirlwind of emotions and sparks flooded their bodies.

"Diana!" Xavier's deep voice bellowed through the door.

She froze once again. Oh no. How am I supposed to explain this to him? I'm not ready to tell anybody yet, not even him!

"Diana!" The alpha's tone grew more annoyed.

"Uh just a minute!" She shouted back. "I need you to hide in the corner over there, okay?" She whispered to Malakai. The look on his face was unconvinced. "Please?" She begged.

How could he say no to her?

Malakai positioned himself in the corner of the room conveniently placed away from the door while Diana hurried to greet Xavier.

"Hey X, what's up?" Diana tried to make her voice natural and normal but that only peeked the curiosity of her Alpha. Diana was anything but normal.

"What's up? What's up? How about the fact I have an intruder on my territory, I have two warriors coming to me saying you threatened them, and they recalled you were overly protective of said intruder!" The vein in Xavier's necked popped out and his eyes glowed. He was angry

Diana stiffened. Did he seriously just talk to her like that? Every instinct inside her was telling her to bow down to him, but she resisted. She flared her nostrils and took a deep breath, "I'm really trying not to blow up on you Xavier." Her eyes began to glow while the hair on her neck stood up. "The intruder as you so lovingly put it, is my mate." She said through gritted teeth. The anger welling up inside her forced out the truth.

Xavier instantly relaxed and a look of understanding dressed his face, "Okay, but next time you need to tell me before he enters. You know better Diana." He looked so disappointed. That's not something Diana has ever seen before. Normally he beamed in pride for his beta, but not today.

Diana's stomach twisted uncomfortably, "I didn't know he was coming. I'm...I'm...I sorry." She whispered. Wow I'm not good at apologies.

"This won't happen again, got it?" He commanded with his alpha voice, forcing Diana to bow down. Xavier stomped off.

Why is he being like this? He never makes me bow? We're basically brother and sister!

Diana closed the door quickly as if it would protect her from the odd situation that just unfolded.

"Who was that?" Malakai interrupted with a gruff tone. He furrowed his brows and clenched his fists.

"My alpha." Diana narrowed her eyes right back at him like a challenge. She didn't need to deal with another angry male. She marched behind her desk and fell back on her chair exasperated. She covered her face in her hands and sighed. The last thing I need is for Xavier to be mad at me. I still have to investigate those damn witches, ugh!

"Do you want to get out of here?" Malakai suggested.

Diana lifted her head. She thought for a second.

I haven't been out in...ever

I have work to do...

"More than anything." She responded. Diana jumped up from her chair and followed a smiling Malakai out the door.

She wasn't sure where he would lead them but she'd take over if need be.

The hum of the engine was the only thing breaking the silence. Diana sat nervously in the passenger's seat. She bounced her knee rapidly and fidgeted with her hands. She snuck a quick glance at her mate. His brown hair was perfectly disheveled, his blue eyes were zeroed in on the road, and his grip on the steering wheel made his forearm muscles pop in the most perfect way. Diana reluctantly pulled her gaze from Malakai in order to not seem like a creep.

"Where are we going?" She asked.

"You'll see." He turned his head a smirked mischievously.

"Malakai." She used her beta voice hoping he would somehow comply.

"You know that won't work on me, Wolfie." Malakai teased.

Diana raised a brow, "Don't call me that." She scowled and crossed her arms. "What are you anyway? You never told me and I'm pretty sure I have a right to know." She turned the to face him just in time to seem him shift uncomfortably.

"I..I um...I'm a fairy" A fairy? Really Malakai?

"A fairy?" Diana looked surprised. She'd never met a fairy before.

"Yep that's me."

"Hmm okay....Now will you tell me where we're going?" Diana tried one last time to convince him.

"Nope."

"Kai!" She huffed in frustration.

He furrowed his brows, "Kai?" He peered away from the road to glance at Diana.

"You call me wolfie, it's only fair." Diana turned her head sassily.

Malakai parked the car, "We're here, Wolfie."
