Malakai clasped his hands together and rested them on the table. He kept his head low and his eyes focused on his hands. He felt he didn't deserve to look at Diana, to be held captive by her beauty. The silence between the couple felt stifling, Kai twiddled his thumbs nervously and Diana sat straight up in her chair stoic, seemingly fine.

"You need to explain yourself." Diana stated simply. Her voice was curt and to the point, she wasn't in the mood for niceties. Seeing his face brought back the memories they shared and the lies the he told.

Kai raised his head to finally look at her. Once again he was breathless, "Well, as you know werewolves and witches have had a long-standing feud that's lasted for centuries. Witches are disliked by a lot of species. Historically we have not been good to the community, but the good witches outnumber the dark witches, they always have. Most people know this have accepted us, but some are still skeptical. Growing up, my dad taught be about werewolves and witches, more specifically the feud. He believes that werewolves are vicious, intolerant, and unruly creatures. Once I started researching as a kid, I quickly found that that is not true at all and by dad has been wildly mislead." Kai took a breath and licked his dry lips.

"So, you lied to me because you knew your dad would hate me?" Diana asked coldly.

"No, I was just giving context as to what I was thinking. You see, I know werewolves hate witches (rightfully so), witches have a history of wrongdoing werewolves. Then wolves retaliate and it lasts forever. What I'm saying is that, I-I was afraid that if you knew I was a witch you wouldn't give me a chance. I figured you would dismiss me, reject me, and move on." Kai lowered his head. His deepest insecurities have finally been laid out for Diana to see.

Diana's gaze softened, "You thought I would really do that? I-I could never...you are my mate. You're mine." Her voice became a whisper. Her heart broke at the fact that her mate was too scared to be himself around her. I haven't done enough to make him understand that I need him. He's my everything how could he not get that?

Diana continued, "But the day we met, we kissed, and you shared the meadow with me. I asked you what you were after all that and you still felt the need to lie? You said you were a fairy and created my favorite flower!" Diana scrunched her brows in confusion. We kissed and had a truly wonderful moment together and he still thought I was heartless enough to reject him?

"Diana I am so sorry." Tears welled in Kai's eyes. Thoughts of her not forgiving him and leaving him raced through his head. He needed her. He covered his face in his hands in shame and wiped at the tears. He looked across the table at Diana. Her eyes as silver and intimidating as ever, but she looked hurt and vulnerable. Kai hated himself for doing this to her.

"You lied to me about who you were. You helped me do research on witches all while being one."

"I know. If I could go back in time and change what I did I would." Kai paused and took a deep breath. "I need you to understand that I care about you more than anything on this earth, Diana. You are my soulmate. I can't live without you. These last few weeks have been hell. I need you there to fall asleep next to me, I need you there to wake me up at ungodly hours of the morning before you work out so I can make sure you eat, I need you there to rant to me about how Xavier hovers over you and Dimitri is a shitty sparring partner, and I need you to lecture me on what I eat. I need you because...damn it Diana I love you." Diana gasped and her eyes widened with surprise. They had spent limited time together before their separation, but that time was priceless and filled with happiness. In the werewolf community Kai and Diana would have been fully mated on the day they met.

"I-I lo-" Before Diana could finish her confession someone burst through the door furiously. Instinctively, she stood up quickly and stood in front of Kai.

"WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN HERE! WHY IS THERE A WEREWOLF ON MY PROPERTY, TSLKING TO MY SON!" The man's voice was loud, angry, and filled with disgust.

Kai stood up and stepped in front of Diana, "Dad you need to calm down-"

"Like hell I'll calm down! I don't take to kindly to you people! Get out of my store now!" Silas Strong's eyes went back and forth from Kai to Diana furiously. With his nostrils flared and fists clenched her stepped towards Diana in a threatening way.

Diana growled loudly to warn him not to do anything stupid. She knew full well that she could kick this dude's ass, but she didn't want to upset Kai.

Kai pressed a hand to his father's chest to stop him from advancing towards his mate, "That's enough dad. Diana is my fated and she is a werewolf. I met her about a month ago and I love her." Kai's words were clipped and left no room for argument, but Silas would surely find some anyway.

"Absolutely not! This is unacceptable. No son of mine will be mated to a werewolf." Silas spat his words out like venom.

Malakai's was so angry with his father he didn't process his emotions that his father's clear unacceptance prompted. Kai stood up straight and stared directly into his father's brown eyes, "I guess I'm no son of yours." His father's eyes that once exuded admiration for his son held so much hate and wrath.

"You're fired and you are not welcome in my home. As long as you are mates with one of them you are dead to me." Kai's blood ran cold. He couldn't believe his father would go that far, but he was never letting Diana go.

He slid his hand into Diana's and lead them out the door. He wasn't sure what he would do next, but his mate was right next to him which was all that mattered. Diana squeezed his hand comfortingly.

They were in this together.
