Chapter Fourteen

Reece's parents were high school sweethearts. Meeting at a young age and falling in love. They got married and had two children.

Reece didn't see it much but Lucy never saw their parents in love. She was caught up in the idea of two homes. Two Chrsitmases at the age of three.

At one point Reece knew his parents were in love. They knew they could have a future if his mother wasn't such a drinker or Reece bring a terrible teenager that it was driving himself AWOL.

Not many people could go AWOL but Reece drove to it so easily that it only took him to have some bad nights coming home for it to show. Reece didn't have a temper and he didn't want to lash out on her at  all. Yet that never stopped her.

Instead of asking how her soon was she basically shipped him to there with his father.

'Oh happy divorce sweetie! Here! Our son is insane! Have him!"

Kathy understood Reece like a book of some sort. She read and read it. Sometimes understanding it and sometimes reading to just get to the end. With what he explained to her next she was confused.

She saw this charming, good looking lad in front of her and didn't assume underneath what he was feeling was terrible.

She comforted him with a hug. He hugged her so tightly tgat she felt her own beating heart bursting out of her chest. She wanted to be there for Reece. She wanted to be his friend.

She wanted to be more than a friend and this day it took a couple of drunks for it to happen.

"I'm sorry. I am sorry I didn't tell you-"

Reece took her hands with his and pulled her with him, "it's okay,"he said, "it's alright."

She kissed him. She kissed him long that it seemed they were there for hours. Kissing and talking about life.

It all made sense at the time. Them. Reece and Kathy. K+R was carved on the tree trunk.

One thing led was leading to another. At one moment they  were talking about how much they should have done this a long time ago. Then the next they were doing what they did that one night. Yet she let him. She let him get it that far. She like him a lot.

Reece. His smile. His eyes. His personality. His humor. His comfort. All of him. He could give all of himself to her and she would still like him. He wasn't AWOL at the moment but instead was on top of the world.

Before they went any further Reece licked his lips and then moved away from her, "I want to be on the same page first."

She laughed and nodded her head, "here."

She nodded to him right at the couch. He got up and sat on it. She sat there too and got an ashtray from the corner of it. She sat it down on the coffee table that was in front of it. She then laughed.
