The duvet was pulled off me and I was awash with cold air. I shivered a little and realised I was alone; Jeremy's arms were gone. I stood and picked up the shirt I had thrown earlier, putting it on and walking from the bedroom. I remained in the doorway, seeing Jeremy, still in briefs, talking with Josh.
"Did you sleep with her?" Josh whispered, eyeing him suspiciously.
"Mate, you were in the same bed." Jeremy said, deadpan, stating the obvious.
"I'm too hungover for this volume." I groaned, walking over to Josh wrapping my arms around Josh's waist. "I am in dire need of a cuddle."
"Why would I sleep with your girlfriend, Josh?" Jeremy seethed, making it abundantly clear to me who they were talking about.
"Well, maybe Jeremy can give you a 'cuddle'." He snapped at me. I moved back and eyed Josh, unsure of the situation.
"Why would he give me one?" I responded, shaking my head and laughing a little. This had to be satirical.
"I mean you were in the bed together, weren't you? You very cosy from what I remember."
I let out a small cackle. "Josh, you've got this so wrong."
"Have I?!"
"Yeah, you have." I spoke calmly. "I was so drunk I needed help and you weren't there. Jeremy helped me because he's my friend. I get that you have some ego thing going on at the minute, but don't involve us in this."
Josh frowned, utterly dismissing my defence. "Oh, really?"
I snapped. "Jeremy, would you mind leaving Josh and I to speak alone?"
He gave me a small smile. "Of course not."
He sauntered off into his room, slamming the door behind him. I turned back to Josh and spoke once more. "Where were you for most of last night, hm? I bet Ava had something to say to you. That much I'm sure of."
"Don't turn this on me," Josh raised his voice, rolling his eyes at my accusation.
"Why not? I've done nothing wrong and you're acting like you're the holy Mary, free from all fucking sin!"
"Nothing wrong?" He laughed, beginning to pace. "Nothing wrong?"
"What am I supposed to have done now?"
"You clearly have something going on with Jeremy-"
"I admit sharing a bed with him may be a little inconsiderate of me," I said, pausing. "But it's no cause for an argument. I've slept on the sofa with him before and you've never spoken like this. What is it, really? Because I can tell it isn't just Jeremy."
"You really want to know? We both know you'd never give up your bloody privileges for this. All the talk of us and all those nights we spent talking about our future; you know deep down you'd never give up your position." Josh accused.
"Is this what you're so angry about?" I scoffed. "You seriously think that I care for living in Palaces over being with you?"
"Given how you've been acting, I'd say so." He responded. "Flaunting your position all over the news like you're the next fucking Marie Antoinette." I shook my head, finding his words unbelievable.
"Then end it." I said. Josh's eyes widened a little. He hadn't expected me to come out with that, his expression only confirmed it. "If you're so done with me and you think I'm as ridiculous as you say there's no possibility of you being in love with me, Josh!"
Josh let out a long, frustrated sigh. "I love you, Matilda, but you're missing the point."
"Really?" I chuckled, turning around. "Then what is the point, Josh? We've been together nearly a year. I have better things to do than continue a relationship that I'm not interested in, Josh. I wouldn't waste all my time — defy my King — if I didn't think we had a viable future. If that future means giving up my title, I don't care. Didn't you listen to anything I said on set?"
