Utterly exhausted by the events of the day, I went to bed and slept for quite some time. I woke up bright and fresh the next day -- realising I hadn't even told Josh to come for dinner that night. I was determined to make everything go smoothly.
Josh, do you own any tails?
I'm not a cat so, no, I don't have a tail, Matilda.
Well, you need some. Do you think you could get some before tonight?
What's happening tonight?
My Mother wants you to come to dinner to assess your "suitability". Dinner is at six so come at three and we can sort your tails out then.
I still don't know what tails are, Matilda.
Google it.
No, actually, don't. It'll be a nice surprise for you later tonight.
Is that the only surprise I'm getting tonight? ;)
Flirty bugger.
You love me really ;)

"Smithers!" I yelled, jogging into the breakfast room. He was nowhere to be seen but Edward sat at the table, eating some toast.
"What's got you all hot and sweaty?" He asked, not looking up from his paper.
"Josh." I stated. He looked up and grimaced, disliking the image I had placed in his head.
"I regret asking."
I sat down at the table and took a slice of toast, putting a smooth layer of butter on it with my knife. "I didn't mean like that, Edward. You have a dirty mind, I'm telling you."
"I don't need to be told." He winked. Edward's accent was quintessentially English like our Father's, comparable to Colin Firth's.
"Do you have any spare tails I could borrow for tonight?"
"You're not going to wear them are you?" Edward seemed a little taken aback. "I don't think Mother would approve, especially when you're bringing your boyfriend to meet her."
"He's not officially my boyfriend, Eddie, but they're for Josh. He doesn't have any and I don't want Mother finding some ridiculous excuse to say he's not suitable."
"I'll ask my valet to send them to your rooms." Edward reassured me. "I will support you in this, Matilda. As siblings we have to unite against our parents."
"Is there talk of Revolution?" Mother spoke as she entered the room.
"Only within the Palace, Mother, which is a great deal better than outside the Palace." Edward teased.
"Marie Antoinette would disagree." Mother murmured, sitting down opposite me. "Is he coming, then?"
"Josh?" I responded. She nodded and I mumbled a 'yes', confirming it. I was rather excited, I had to admit. I had no quarries about my brother and Josh -- they would get on like a house on fire -- it was more so my Mother's odd little comments she made when she met strangers.
"I hope he likes salmon mousse; they're making it especially." Edward told us, once more preferring his paper over us.
I laughed with a tone of sarcasm, hoping he was joking. "He's a vegetarian."
