Immediately after the queen left Albert started rambling on about his favorite bugs to eat and all 831 of his fears while I decided to talk to Skylar since we were the know-it-alls of the group and we shared some interesting conversations. Luna and Nig were reluctantly forced to listen to Albert and I thought it was funny how Nig almost started to take a "cat nap". After about 2 or 3 hours our conversations switched up a bit and Skylar and I took advantage of Albert's small habit of saying "What's up?" by replying with a smart reply like "A direction" or "Air". He would always get so mad but his anger literally only lasted for a second and that's mainly what we thought was hilarious.
"Say Sylvester you're part wolf right?" Albert asks suddenly and I hesitate to answer.
"Uh yeah...not that I think it's a good thing...in fact it's the one thing I hate since everybody always assumes we're useless and that we are too dangerous to come close to because of what they think of us and our stupid ability to not be able to use any magic," I reply.
"I don't think you're too bad. None of the statements like 'wolves are terrible and they will rip your throats out and take away your magic' are actually true with you," Luna says while she perks her ears.
"Yeah, in fact, you're just the opposite. Except for the magic part, no offense," Skylar added.
"Well, the humans think what they want to think. It just hurts when they cast me away or say 'he's part wolf' in their negative ways." I shrug as I get up and stretch before walking over to the glass floor of the second floor just above the entrance of the queen's chambers.
"Well, you should care. Don't you ever feel mad?" Albert asks and I nod.
"Every time. They even come up to me and howl just to mock my father. I've even gotten in fights but I've always been attacked by at least a group of 10 dogs. But anyway let's talk about something else. Like what are your magic specialties?" I suggest, trying to change the subject off of me and my wolf side.
"Oh uh sure I guess. Birds like me from the Hearthcrest Aviary tend to have a specialty for illusion magic." Skylar says and giving me a chance to sigh in relief at the subject change.
"Tree frogs from Kuda can control water and if trained can foresee the future in puddles. But I'm terrible at both so don't come looking for me if you need someone to do magic for you" Albert says and I raise a brow at his tribe's strangely powerful magic.
"As I'm sure the know-it-alls already know but the black and white bi-colored cats from Uriel have invisibility and shadow manipulation," Nig explains exaggerating the first part.
I've never actually seen Nig use his magic before but I know he uses it to get books or something like that. I was curious to know what Luna's specialty was since...well...she was a husky. So whatever her specialty was I probably would've also had it since my mother was a husky too.
"And my specialty, like all other Huskies, is mental magic. Anything that uses your mind Huskies can use it in the form of magic. But for me I can only see into the future," Luna says proudly and I can see why she would be proud of it.
Mental magic is considered fairly tough to learn and it's a rare ability even among dogs like us.
"And as you all know I can't use any magic at all. One of my greatest qualities" I joke making the mood a little brighter and making everyone except me laugh.
After that small conversation, we notice that it's sundown and we decide that it would be better to rest for the night and get used to the rooms the queen had prepared for us inside her chambers. I was particularly surprised to know there was a third floor where all of our rooms were set up perfectly to how we would like. My room was at the end of the hallway and it seemed like heaven for me considering I lived on the streets for my whole life.
There was a small circular sapphire blue bed in the far right corner. The walls were painted to a nice shade of sea green-blue and the floor was made out of wood planks. Right above the head of my bed, there was a curved window, with a small platform to sit on, that let me see most of Lighttran and the river that I knew was the Balms. The longest river in Cerenia known to stretch from the northernmost city all the way past Cerenia's border and into the land we call the Beyond. Across from my bed, there was a desk that could be easily transformed to fit into the wall and seem like it was never there. In the corner closest to the door, there was a shelf which could hold all the books I ever want and I'm amazed to see and it also works storage compartment. Just before my room though, there is a small corridor that has a bathroom in it. The bathroom was neat and there was even high-quality soap, shampoo, and conditioner. I don't even know WHY a wolfdog like me could even begin to make use of any of this but I decide not to question.
Queen Esmeralda even gave us a teleportation charm, places to go to with it, and several other magical items. The holoscreen was a bit overkill but it's nice I guess... I thought and started to wonder if my parents ever lived in something like this.
I make myself comfortable though and curl up on the bed, laying on my paws, before slowly beginning to sleep.
When I fell asleep though, the white wolf comes back into my dreams in a snowy landscape and begins to try to tell me something but I can't hear.
"What are you trying to tell me? Who are you?" I yell, trying to run towards the wolf but my paws were stuck in the snow and it suddenly starts to blizzard which obscures my vision even more.
"Remember Sylvester...remember your past..." echoes throughout my head and I just become even more confused.
"Remember what!?" I snap, getting angry for no reason, and then everything flashes white before turning black leaving me alone in the darkness.
