"Oh... Hi." I responded, looking at Jace for help.

"It's a pleasure to meet you." Cameron's mum held her hand out, and I shook it awkwardly. "Firm handshake, huh?"

I laughed, breathing heavily. Maybe she doesn't know what pack I come from...

"I'd love to get to know you - fancy meeting me upstairs in an hour? Obviously I'll let you hang out with your friends first." She looked at Jace, her smile fading.

"That'd be great." I said.

"Brilliant! I'll meet you up in the study. If you ask Cameron I'm sure he'd show you the way." She said, smiling again. "I'll see you then!"

I breathed a sigh of relief when she turned around and walked away, my heart beating rapidly.

"Does she know?" Olivia asked warily.

"I have no idea." I answered truthfully. "But I'm going to go and find Cameron."

"We'll come with you." Jace offered.

"No - you guys need to head home and warn my mum and dad. I can take it from here." I said, motioning for them to leave.

"Sam-"

"Jace, now is not the time."

"Call me if you're in trouble." He warned, before grabbing Olivia's hand and walking away.

I turned around and headed inside to find Cameron, my eyes scanning the room for him. Smelling the air, I knew he wasn't in this room - so I headed towards the kitchen.

And there he was, drinking his life away with some shifter buddies. His back was to me, so he didn't see me approach him as I turned him around to face me.

"Whoa... Sam, is that you?" He asked, clearly drunk.

Angrily, I said. "You never told me you had a little brother."

"Oh sorry, I must've forgotten to mention it. But hey, cracking party, right?" He asked me, smiling.

"Cameron-"

"Would you like a drink? You look a little... stressed. This'll take it all away." He offered me a can of something, and I instantly refused.

"We need to talk."

"Can I just-"

"I ran into your mother." I stated, crossing my arms. Immediately, the drunk act was dropped and seriousness clouded over his face. I wanted to smirk, but the situation was too serious to do so.

"What? What are you doing here?" He asked worriedly.

"I didn't know the party was here!" I argued back. "I tried to leave but she found me and now she wants to 'get to know me'. Wait... how does she know who I am?"

"I told her that I'd found my mate, and I told her your name - only your first name. And I said I was bringing you over on Monday..."

"But how does she know what I look like?"

"I showed her a picture of you." He shrugged, taking a drink.

"So she knows nothing about what pack I come from, or who my parents are? Because if she does-"

"She doesn't know anything more about you than what I've told her. I'll take you to see her, we'll play it cool, and when she asks questions about your family, just lie."
