Static Major

"What is Devante doing here?" I asked Serenity.

"He is here to support me in during this horrible time. We are seeing each other okay!  And I'm sorry if you don't like it. But someone told me that I need to do something that makes me happy and stop worrying about how it will effect others. So that is what I am doing." Serenity told me.

"Okay. I cant get mad. You are grown." I told her shrugging my shoulders. What was the use of getting angry.

"That's it? You are not going to try and fight him?" Serenity asked me looking shocked and I just laughed.

"Nah, me and De are always going to be good. If he makes you happy then I'm happy." I told her. She smiled and gave me a hug.

"Thank you." Serenity said squeezing me tighter.

Louisville, Kentucky

We were going to stay at a hotel since Serenity doesn't really live here in Louisville and I knew for sure my mom wasn't going to let her stay with her due to her still being salty. But the more that I thought about it my Mom had to face this and get over the past.

"Okay, everything is set at my moms house." I told Serenity and Devante.

"Hold up, I thought you guys had the same mother?" Devante asked us.

"Nah." We both said.

"We just have the same dad. She is from Harlem." I told him.

"Oh okay." Devante nodded his head now understanding.

"Bro, you know that your mom doesn't like me." Serenity told me.

"Well she needs to get the fuck over it. So come on." I told them.

-

"Oh my gosh, Devante Swing from Jodeci." Some of my cousins squealed when they noticed. So they went over immediately to meet him.

"Hey son." My mom rushed out the house and gave me a hug.

"Hey mom, how are you holding up?" I asked her.

"I will be fine." My mom told me but I could tell she wasn't going to be okay. My dad was the love of her life. Yeah, my dad cheated on her with Serenity's mom but my mom forgave him and he didn't cheat on her anymore from what I knew. So I don't know why she is still salty.

"Hey Sunny. Can I talk to you?" I heard Serenity say behind me.

"Sure." My Mom told her. So I walked out of the kitchen after hugging and kissing them both so they could have their talk in private.

Serenity

"Hey Sunny, can I talk to you?" I ask her.

"Sure." Sunny told me and after that Static gave her a kiss on the cheek and a hug and he did the same for me before leaving the kitchen. "I just want to know why you hate me so much?" I ask her bluntly.

"I don't hate you." Sunny told me.

"Well you could've fooled me." I told her sarcastically.

"I just hated the situation." Sunny told me. "You are a sweet girl and I'm sorry that I put you thru hell." Sunny apologized.

"I'm sorry that my dad hurt you, but if you can forgive him from his mistake then I don't see why you can't do the same about the situation. He couldn't go back and change things.. life doesn't work like that.

"You are right." Sunny wiped her tears from her eyes. "Will you forgive me?" I started to cry. I waited so long to here her say these words and really mean it. It's sad it took death for it to happen.

"Yeah. Of course" I told her and we both gave each other a hug. "I really needed this. Thank you so much." I told her.

-

"You good?" Devante wrapped his arms around me .

"Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks for checking on me." I sighed laying my head on his chest. I had Jet lag so we were now getting comfortable in our assigned room for our stay. I was so sleep but I needed to call my mom. "I'm just going to call my mom really quick.." Devante nodded his head and leaned back on the bed while I dialed her number.

"Hey baby, wassup?" My mom asked me once she answered the phone.

"Dad passed away today, and I don't know if you were coming down to say your last goodbye?" I asked her.

"Damn, I guess I can pay my respect and say my goodbye." My mom said to me with a sigh.

"Okay, I will see you soon. We have a room that we paid for at the hotel so you can stay there. I with my brother at his Mom's house." I told her. "Okay baby, and are you doing okay? With... her and all" My mom asked me curiously.

"Yeah, I will be fine Mom." I told her before ending the call.

"You want something to eat?" Devante ask me. "Yeah, anything you find in the fridge is fine. I'm about to take a shower." I told him.

"Okay, whatever you want baby." Devante told me before leaving the room while I headed in the bathroom to shower.

Three days ago./Flashback

"Hey daddy, what are you calling for?" I asked him.

"Damn, I cant talk to my princess?" My dad asked me.

"Yeah silly, what you doing?"

"Nothing, I'm just chilling. I just wanted to say that I love you so much. You are the best thing that ever happened to me. I always wanted a daughter. And I'm also proud of you and Static too. You both are doing very well in the music business. I cant wait to hear your album and tell everyone that's my daughter." My dad told me and I grinned from ear to ear.

"Damn dad, that was so sweet. You got me grinning so hard and now I might start crying." I laughed and he did also.

"I really mean what I said. Every word. I am proud of you. Just keep your head up." My dad said.

Back to Present/

"Babe, are you okay in there?" Devante ask me knocking on the door. I cleared my throat before speaking.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I will be out in the second." I told him.

"Okay, the food will be up here in a few minutes." Devante said before closing the door in the bedroom.

'Okay, calm down Serenity'. I told myself.

I got out of the shower, dried myself off, put lotion on and then my favorite robe that I had brought along with me. I brushed my teeth and washed my face and I was now walking back to the room and I notice that Devante was outside on the balcony area smoking.

I wrapped my arms around him from behind keeping my towel tight around my body.

"You okay?" I asked him.

"Yeah, I'm good. I'm just worried about you." Devante told me.

"I'm not going to lie, I was crying in the shower. I just can't stop crying. I just keep remembering how he told me that he was really proud of me and how he wanted to tell everyone he knows that I was his daughter on the radio. He wanted to show me off to people. He believed in my music. And now he is gone. I just miss him that's all." I told him.

"Its okay to miss him, and he is always going to be with you." Devante told me. His eyes were real low and red little bit from him smoking.

"You are crazy." I told him. "But I love you."
