Before I've even reached my house, I pull out my phone and unlock it quickly, my fingers scrambling to open up the messaging app. I click on my conversation with Bakugo and start typing.

I don't think it's very fair that I have to tell you about my Quirk's weaknesses in order to continue training

I send the text and pray it comes off as a slightly annoyed tone to convince him that the explanation would show weaknesses in my Quirk. Or maybe... That's it! If he pushes further I'll tell him that the Quirk goes back to it's original owner after a certain period of time. I know I said back during the fitness test that I could use the Quirks I plunder indefinitely, but it would make sense that I'd lie to appear more powerful and not show off my weakness. It's such an easy, rational explanation I don't know why I didn't think of it before.

My phone buzzes, making me jump. Quickly, I click it on, opening the message from Bakugo.

Elaborate.

I start to type out the explanation, but stop. I can't tell him so easily if I was trying to hide it so hard before. I delete what I started and type something else.

Only if we continue training

I enter my house and head to my room. If Bakugo and I don't train today then I'll train on my own. I pull out a tank top and a pair of shorts and change into the workout clothes, leaving my phone on my desk. After pulling my earbuds from my bag, I check my phone again.

Meet at the warehouse, we can train after you explain.

I grin and reply with an 'okay'. I decide to jog there today to get in more exercise, and I plug in my earbuds and pull up my favorite playlist, sticking only one earbud in.

"Mom! I'm going for a run." I call down the hall as I exit my room.

"Be home in time for dinner!" She yells back as I open the front door.

"Okay!" I shout, putting the other earbuds in place and turning up the volume as I start my run.

~Time Skip~

I arrive at the warehouse and pull out my earbuds, wrapping them around my phone as I enter the building.

"You're fucking late," someone says as my eyes adjust to the darkness.

"I already told you I live far from here," I mutter as I place my phone on the ground next to the entrance.

"Go on then, tell me the grand explanation of your fucking weird behavior." I see Bakugo's outline in the center of the warehouse.

"You could've at least turned on the lights, no need to be so dramatic." I hit the lights, but nothing happens.

"They're broken, idiot." He walks towards me, entering the light of the opening in the wall. "Now explain."

"Fine, but you can't run your mouth about it," I warn him. He gives me a look that says 'get on with it'. "I don't actually keep the Quirks I plunder forever. There's a time limit, it depends on the Quirk. The stronger the Quirk, the shorter the time limit." I begin to make stuff up that sounds right in my head, the words flow out as if well rehearsed. "I didn't want people knowing, because if they realize they would eventually get their Quirks back they would only have to wait."

"Why the fuck were you so hesitant to say that before?" He questions.

I give him a look like he's stupid. "Because the less hopeful people are the easier they are to defeat."

He narrows his eyes, but seems to accept my explanation. "Alright, we'll keep training then."
