My father is a villain.
His corporation is made up of villains who work under him, he's the Boss. I used to work as a villain with Kaito. He would stay in his office and find information on our targets, while also building machines to assist me on my missions, since I could use his Quirk whenever I wanted. I would be the one to go out and either kill, steal, or kidnap whatever or whoever was assigned to us. We worked very well together, but there was an incident that turned me away from the villain life when I turned fifteen. I quit, though my father and Kaito are the only ones from the corporation that know I quit. The rest of the villains still respect me, and rivalling companies still consider me a threat. My father refused to fund my mother and my housing and protection after I quit, so I moved us to a small, abandoned underground building that I renovated to have suitable living conditions. It's nearby Kaito's workshop so he can come over if there's a crisis and my mom is home alone. My past can be summed up in two words: A mess.
"Mom! I'm home!" I call as I enter our house. I place my book on the kitchen table and walk to her room, knocking lightly.
"Come in," she says and I open the door. She's sitting on her bed, shuffling through papers. She used to be a top researcher in genetics due to her quirk, but after getting involved with my father and having me she had to quit. Ever since I've left that life she's been working hard to find a job that's discrete, yet will support us both financially.
"My entrance exams are tomorrow, so I'll be leaving early. If there's any trouble go to Kaito's workshop. I'm going to start making dinner, so get ready for bed," I say gently. I feel obliged to take care of her since we're in bad living conditions because of me. She's never outright blamed me, but I'm sure she sometimes thinks 'if only (y/n) was still working for the corporation', since I think that too. 'If only's will only get you so far in life though, so I work my ass off to help us. Becoming a hero is a sure fire way to put us in a good financial situation, but that's not my sole reason for becoming a hero. My reason is a little more... complicated.
"Okay, but I don't want you always doing all the work." She stands up and ruffles my hair before getting ready to shower.
I go back into the kitchen and decide to make pasta, since we have the most of it. Kaito supplies me with food when we're running really low, and his parents tend to buy a lot of pasta. I fill a pot with water and let it sit on the stove to boil. While the water is heating up, I go to my room and change into pajamas. I reenter the kitchen and continue making dinner.
~time skip~
I stand in front of the entrance to the exam. At least, the combat portion. The written test wasn't too bad, but I know I didn't get exceptional grades. I've really got to show my stuff here. I glance around at the competition. There's a wide variety of people here. I'm sure most of them have strong Quirks, but none as strong as mine. If I wanted, I could obliterate the whole city. Though that's probably against the rules, not to mention all the people that would die. I would definitely not get in.
The doors suddenly open, and everyone rushes in. I activate a super speed Quirk and sprint past everyone, heading into the heart of the city. Most of the robots should be here. I switch to Kaito's Quirk, grateful that I've used it so much. I run from robot to robot with the super speed, tapping the robots and commanding them to shut down.
So far, forty points. Everyone else has caught up and I've got serious competition now, especially one blond who is going on a rampage. He's destroying every robot with huge explosions. I'm going to need more points if I'm going to make it in. But the robots are dwindling fast.
I stand next to a large building to catch my breath. Everyone is still going, probably only running on adrenaline. Suddenly, a loud crash comes from my left. I step around the corner to see a large hunk of cement hurtling towards me. In a panic I activate my father's Quirk, and the second the block grazes me it turns to dust. I keel over, my heart racing in fright. No matter how many things I've seen, a giant rock hurtling at me is still terrifying. If I was anyone else I'd be dead.
Wait. What did that? I stand up unsteadily and look down the street. A giant robot, larger than the buildings, looms over the terrified kids running away from it. I turn on me heel, ready to sprint away as well, but a sound catches my ear. A scream, no, a cry for help. My body now has a mind of its own, and my feet are taking me towards the robot. There's people hurt, crying out in pain as they try to crawl away from the robot. There's even some people trapped beneath large hunks of cement like the one that came flying at me.
I can't let it hurt anyone else. I'm not going to let it hurt anyone else. I don't care that I get no points. I don't care that this is a stupid idea. I only care about protecting these innocent people. I only care about redeeming myself. I push myself to go faster, to run harder. The robot's foot lifts towards me, and comes down on top of me. I raise my fist, Kaito's Quirk ready in my hand, and slam it into the robot. I have twenty seconds to do something about this robot. I command it to lie on its side without lying on top of anyone.
Before it can go down, a sudden bursts of explosions attack from behind it. Panicked once again, and forgetting my goal of controlling the robot, I tell it to attack. It slams it fist towards the threat. Realizing what I'm doing, I quickly order it to lie down again, yelling to the attack. "You're getting in my way!" I growl as the robot falls onto its side. I tap it again and shut it down completely. The attacker jumps on top of the robot and faces me, glaring daggers. Explosion boy.
"I'm in your way? You're just a side character, so fuck off." He slams his fist into the palm of his hand, creating an explosion.
"The hell is your problem?" I ask, not waiting for a reply. I turn away from him and move towards the people who are trapped. I run over to a girl who's trapped and try to lift the cement, but it won't budge. Well, I've already used my dad's Quirk, so why not use it again? I'll just pretend it's a disintegration Quirk. I touch the cement and turn it to dust, studying the girls injuries, both legs are broken, and she can barely move. She mutters a raspy 'thank you' before passing out.
I continue to disintegrate the boulders until everyone is free. They're all hurt in one way or another, but the girl is the only one that can't move. I pick up her unconscious body with steady arms and start to walk towards the exit. While my arms are still strong, my legs have gone weak. I'm moving on will power alone now. Stars start to appear at the edges of my vision and i feel lightheaded. Before I collapse, a pair of arms reaches out and catches me and the girl I'm holding. My vision turns to black as my conscious fades away, but I hear an agravated voice before I completely lost conscious. "Fucking idiot..."
Author's Note: Good place to end, no? I wonder who the person who caught you is? Lol not like it's super obvious though. See you in the next chapter!
