Lunch

I wake up in the morning groggy, my mind clouded. Slowly I go through my morning routine, knowing something's off but to tired to remember why. As I'm making breakfast, it suddenly hits me. Bakugo. And everything he said last night. Right, that asshole decided to turn on me and accused me of not knowing my own Quirk's weaknesses. I mean, acting like that villain? It's just a couple mood swings. Man, I want to kill that son of a bitch.

I snap back into reality. Kill...? I definitely don't like what Bakugo said last night, but I don't hate him that much. Maybe something is wrong... Nah, there's no way that Bakugo is right. But... I've never kept a Quirk activated for this long. Could... could my mind really be changing? I don't want him to be right, but I can't risk anything happening because I was too stubborn not to accept what seems to be obvious. I render myself Quirkless. Now my biggest trouble is Bakugo. I'll talk to him during lunch about continuing our training.

I finish breakfast and grab my bag, hurrying out the door to make it to school on time.

I run into Kirishima on the way into the building.

"Hey (y/n)!" He greets me.

"Hey Kirishima, have you started training for the sports festival?" I ask.

"Yeah! My Quirk isn't very flashy so I have to do really well in the festival if I want to be noticed."

I nod my head, understanding where he's coming from. I'm the same, as least since I have to use Plunder instead of my actual Quirk.

"I've been training too, I don't do well against long-distance Quirks, and I need to prepare in case I go up against Todoroki, or basically anyone who can attack without getting close." I let out an annoyed sigh. I'm so weak with this Quirk. Choosing a single Quirk from my various selection would be too tricky though, and this one allows me to both disarm enemies and map out even more Quirks. I'm glad I stuck with this one, it doesn't seem to change my personality. The majority of my Quirks were mapped out from people who work in my father's company. If I chose one of their Quirks to use, well it would definitely be problematic.

"I wouldn't do well against you then," Kirishima says, snapping out of my train of thought. "I wouldn't be able to land an attack without you taking my Quirk."

I ponder it. "Well, if the first blow is hard enough to knock me out you could win." I laugh then, shaking my head. "Why am I giving a potential opponent winning strategies?"

We enter the classroom. I make eye contact with Bakugo, but he quickly looks away, an indecipherable expression set into his face. I walk over and take my seat, two seats behind his. I don't feel like engaging in any of the current conversations, still in a gloomy mood from the night before. I pull my phone out of my bag and click it on, typing in the password and checking some apps until the teacher enters.

Aizawa takes attendance and we begin another normal school day, one which seems to drag on forever as I wait for lunch.

The bell rings for lunch. I stand up quickly, a little too quickly. I didn't think this through. Should I talk to him now or wait until after eating lunch? No, I should definitely talk to him now. The sooner the better.

He's already halfway out the door. I dart around the desks and hurry to catch up with him. He disappears around a corner as I exit the classroom. I tilt my head in confusion, he went the opposite direction of the cafeteria. Never mind that, I need to talk to him. I'll just grab lunch later.

I turn the corner that he went around, not seeing anything down the hallway. Damn it, I lost him! I decide to search around a little to see if I can find him before giving up and going back to the cafeteria. Room after room down the long hallway, they're all just empty classrooms. I finally reach the end of the hallway, peeking around the right corner. Nothing.

I turn my head to the left, my heart jumping in surprise as I recognize Bakugo standing against a wall in the middle of the hallway. He's not doing anything, hands in his pockets and staring absentmindedly at the wall across him. I approach him.

"Hey Bakugo, what are you doing here?" I ask.

"Waiting for you." He shifts his gaze to me. "Finally accepted that something's wrong with your Quirk?"

I avert my eyes from his piercing stare. "You don't have to rub it in," I reply, looking back at him. "So are we continuing our training?"

"You got rid of the villain's Quirk then?" He asks, ignoring my question.

"Yes, happy?"

"How? Can you make the Quirks you steal just disappear? Did it return to the villain? Can't you only transfer Quirks by touch?"

I grimace at his onslaught of questions, not having answers. He realizes this when I hesitate.

"What? You don't know how your own Quirk works?"

"My Quirk is none of your business. Why are you so obsessed with figuring out how it works? Just drop it, and let's continuing practicing as normal." The more questions he asks, the more suspicious I look. I just need him to drop the topic.

His expression turns sour. "You are hiding something." He pauses, seemingly considering something. "We'll continue training when you tell me the truth about your Quirk."

I shake my head. "No, I'll just find someone else to train with." And with that I turn on my heel and walk briskly back to the classroom. I've lost my appetite.

Author's Note: Sorry everyone this came out later than I intended! I'll try to get into a more regular schedule.
