Chapter 12

"Alright, so here's a little piece of future history..."

"Do you remember that woman from the restaurant?"

Kara nodded. How could she forget her? She stole her Lena and that's something she's not gonna erase from her mind for a long time. Mike suddenly interrupted her thoughts again.

"That was Ms. Mesmer, she doesn't have any superhuman abilities, but she is highly skilled at hypnotism. She is able to get any person on her side, however strong-minded the person is. Two months ago, we had a mission. We messed up, we all died except for you and so you time travelled and changed consequences of our mission. You created an aberration, Red Daughter Supergirl. We're not sure why yet, but she's living in this time period, which doesn't make any sence, since you created her in future, anyway at this moment she's much weaker than you, but she's getting stronger, in the meanwhile she's sending time killers and spies, to gather information about you, Ms. Mesmer is one of them. We don't know why, but she obviously hates you and it doesn't look good so far. She's sort of turned herself into your own Prometheus and she's getting to you through the future of our future. It's quite terrifying, I know, but Green Arrow can't have a smart psycho on a killing spree just for himself, right?" Mon-El said the last sentence with sound of pure bitterness and hate playing on his tongue. Red Daughter wanted to hurt Kara and unfortunately she knew her weaknesses, she wanted her to suffer.

"The future you is now much different from this you, not just that she doesn't her powers, but our Kara is broken, she lost almost everything and we are the only family she has. One day, she was the happy, beaning ray of sunshine Kara, and the next day, she was this negative, full of bitterness herself...That also means that Red Daughter will strike soon, because it takes some time for the changes from past manifest their consequences in future, so that makes us furious to act."

Kara was listening patiently, paying attention to the speech the whole time. They all were, Mon-El's voice was steady, firm, but comfortable to listen to, it was like he was born to talk. Once he finished he went silently silent and headed to one of the interactive board to edit some incorrect details on them, it was his way to let Kara process. Imra and Brainiac still stood there watching Kara thinking. She was bitting her lip and unconsciously rubbing her cape with her hand.

"So, if I heard right, I am supposed to fight an evil myself again?" Kara asked, wanting the group of heroes to assure her, even though she was quite sure that she understood right. She was glancing at all of them, nobody felt like talking. Imra sighed, maybe too much, when everyone turned their looks at her, expecting her to finally say a word.

"Unfortunately Kara, that's exactly what we want from you. You weren't ready the last time and since then you were hurting. We need to prevent it before the future settles. That makes this mission strictly time limited." A very uncertain grimace took a place on blonde's face, she knew now for sure that their situation is serious and technically she created the situation, so she will not abandon them. Rao, she hoped that she hadn't much more evil doppelgangers left in this universe.

"So why didn't you just travel a little more in past to make this mission not that strictly time limited? You could have prepared me better to face her, bought yourself some extra time." Kara said the first thing that appeared on her tongue. Imra chuckled at the blonde's remark and then started explaining.

"It is logical, yes, but it would mess up the timeline in some horrific ways. It would utterly change you and maybe made some different decisions, that would lead to not create to Legion, which would also negate the affect of the mission." Imra said, aware of the fact that she was being very confusing, so she gave Kara some time to get the message.

"Okay, okay, well, I can't let you fix this by yourself, I'm practically responsible for this, so I will do whatever in my powers to clear this mess. You have my word." Kara stated firmly with the most serious tone, she could form, the others look actually surprisingly impressed, happy look on their face.
