chapter 2

Kara was currently flying around the place, where Lena's gala was held. She was making sure, that any danger couldn't threaten there. So far, it looked peacefully.
She then flew on the roof and ran towards the stairs,  so she could quickly change in her dress and fix her hair, which was now a bit wind-swept.
As she entered the gala, everybody was staring at her, superhero's face slightly red by shyness.
Lena, who was standing in a crowd of people, looked at her friend, smiling from ear to ear.
"Please, excuse me" she told to the people, she was talking to without turning her sight off Kara, who was standing beside the stairs, that she walked down a short while ago.

"Hello miss Danvers." the CEO said when finally aproached to her friend.
She looks so gorgeous.
Kara blushed again, saying: "You think?"
Lena left her not that quiet trance, as she might have thought.
"Wh-what? What I think?" she shuttered.
The Super quite didn't understand, what was happening with Lena, so she decided to explain her friend the situation.
"You literally just said, that I look gorgeous..like 10 seconds ago."
Lena was surprised she said it that loud, so she just grinned and said: "ohh did I?"
"Yeaaah, so there's a lot of people, I don't know, here." After that the CEO gave Kara the sweetest smile.
"Probably yes, but me neither." Lena paused, smirking a little, but then she continued "Want something to drink?"
"Ummm..yeah sure."

Lena turned around, looking for a waiter with wine. A handsome waiter stood few meters behind them, looking straight to the two women. Before you could know, the waiter stood by them with a tray. Lena reached for two glasses of wine, then handing one to Kara.
"Thank you." Kara mumbled.
"You are very welcome." Lena said already sipping from her glass and letting a comfortable silence settle between them.

Kara was now gazing into the CEO's eyes, drowning in the depth of the green color. Lena noticed, that Kara is staring at her, immediately feeling slightly uncomfortable.
"How is your reporter job going?" Lena said, breaking that quiet moment between them, purposely.
Kara seemed like she was thinking, what to say to not sound awkward.
"Well...actually it-"

Before she could finish her sentence, she was interupted by a loud, weird bang.
Everyone started running towards the exit.
Lena and Kara stood in the middle of the crowd. People were pushing them and eventually they got separated.
Kara took that opportunity to change back in her supergirl suit. When she did, she flew straight to where she heard those bangs, seeing six men in black hoodies, holding some sort of alien weapon.
She tried to use her heat vision to melt it, but it didn't work. She sighed and then she heard Alex talking in her ear.
"Kara there's an alien attack in the-" she paused as she heard some shooting.
"Kara? What was that? You're there, aren't you?"
Before she could answer, she heard glass shatter and then high pitched scream. She
x-rayed through the walls to see a woman lying on the floor in fragments of glass. Lena.

"Yes. Alex, I gotta go!"
With that she flew towards where her friend was, to see all of the attackers pointing at her best friend. She took the opportunity, that they didn't see her and knocked of them down from behind. She quickly sped to Lena, seeing her unconcious probably from the blood loss. She took her in her  arms and flew straight to the DEO and with a carelessness (which never really suited her) left all the other guests of the gala behind.
Few seconds later she landed on a balcony of the department, running to a med-bay, putting Lena on a bed.

"Somebody! Help?" the Super screamed, almost crying. She looked at the Lena's completely limb body, glass shards everywhere. "Come on Lena! Don't you dare die on me!" she yelled at her friend, who obviosly couldn't hear her. A single tear escaped her eye, then the another and another, but before she could create a pool of tears on the floor, doctors came rushing to the room following Alex.
"Kara! Are you okay?" she asked softly.
"The fuck? Do you see in what state is Lena right now? Just save her."
Alex got a bit surprised of her alien sister's behaviour, but she knew she just cared about Lena, so she got to work and mumbling to another agent to sent a strike team with ambulance to the gala.
