"Lllll...Lydia? "I exclaimed , my voice barely above a whisper. I hated the name.
"Yes, Lydia"He answered and looked at me.
With my eyes meeting his all I could feel was pain and heart break.
Lydia, The girl he loved before me.
Lydia, The girl he used me to try and forget her.
Lydia, The girl he felt like he was cheating on with me.
Lydia, The girl he loved...The dead girl he loved.
I closed my eyes for a few seconds before frowning.
"What about her, Liam?"I asked in a clear voice, regaining my composure once more.I won't break just by hearing a name.
"You....You always wanted to know more about my past..about her"He started, running a hand through his silky black hair, seeming like he was just trying to gain time to find the right words. "I..Well, I want to tell you everything"He admitted a second later.
Narrowing my eyes , I frowned and looked around then back at him. "What?.." I was at loss of words, I had no clue what to say or do.A part of me didn't want to hear what he had to say , but the other part was interested in knowing Liam's past.
Afraid of ending up asking myself 'What if I had stayed and listened'I ended up taking a decision to listen to all what he would have to say.
Slowly, he sat down on the grass and turned away from me, facing the lake instead. He brought his legs up close to his chest and rested his arms on his knees. He took a deep breath and looked up at me.
"Come..Sit and listen, please"He said and I couldn't help but gulp at the way he looked.
All of a sudden he didn't seem like the CEO of one of the most successful companies in the world, he didn't look like the controlled person he has been ever since I met him again. He looked different, weak, open....vulnerable.
I couldn't stand seeing that look on his face, I have never in my life seen him like this.Liam Kerrington never looked vulnerable....Not when I won over him in the school drawing competition, not when the plane was crashing, not when we were breaking up. I never saw him like this, his green eyes full of sadness that it almost looked black, All this sadness and pain I could see in both his face and eyes reminded me of that dreadful nights in the islands. The nights were I was about to die from the snake bite.He had sadness in his eyes, even pain there too, but now ...now it was worse, now he looked like someone just cut him open and pulled his heart out, and I couldn't help but think about how much he loved that girl, so just the memory of her brought this powerful CEO to his knees.
Taking a deep breath I stepped closer and sat on the grass, just a foot away from him.I tucked my legs under me and sighed, somewhere in my mind I was aware that the dress would be ruined but the miserable look in his eyes made me willing to sit here and comfort him no matter what it will take me.
How pathetic of you, you're about to hear about the girl that he chose over you and you could only think of comforting him..Not yourself.Pathetic, Ana.Pathetic.
"I am listening"I finally managed to say a minute later and he nodded, already looking down at the water.
"You always said that I was hiding something from you, a part from my past that I didn't want to share..."He stopped and took a deep breath, closing his eyes. "You were right".
Duh
"So..Are you ever going to tell me the whole truth? Not just that you loved a girl and she died, but why you couldn't move on?"The words escaped my lips before I think of them and he let out a sigh before nodding.
