The teachers said nothing. Though a young woman with long black hair stared me down. I paid no attention to them and led my petrified friend down the rows of tables and towards the huge oak doors. They swang open without any protest as soon as I reached them. I walked Stryker out of the castle and down to the inky black lake where the boats arrived. I then sat him down on the grass and sat next to him. Stryker just sat there. I put my arm around his shoulders and looked him in the eyes.
"Stryker, take a deep breath."
The only way I knew he had heard me was through the sound of a shaky inhale and a sigh. He blinked and his unfocused eyes locked onto mine.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
He said nothing but tears started to flow down his face like a waterfall down rocks. I hugged him and let him cry for a while, not really knowing why.
After a while, he stopped crying and spoke to me in a very shaky voice.
"My dad Lily....its the same... Lucius...you don't know...He is going to be furious...I...I'm scared."
I looked at my friend, shocked but concerned.
"Stryker, you are safe here. He can't hurt you when you're at Hogwarts. And my dad will probably let you stay over if Draco is still mad." I calmly said.
Hysterically he shook his head and squeezed his eyes shut.
"You don't understand."
"I can't understand if you won't let me." I sighed, annoyed.
He stared at me, uncertain.
"I can't say."
I sighed again and looked into his watery grey eyes, usually so firm and sure, now broken and scattered. I remember when I saw him for the first time at Diagon Ally.
I was there with my Father, the famous Hary Potter, and my mother, Ginny. (sorry to all other Harry Potter shippers, just pretend that it's someone else.) Was I about 6 or maybe 8? I don't know, it was quite a while ago. I was there to get my first magical pet or my first pet for that matter. It had come after a lot of family arguments and yelling. Typical. I had chosen a black cat with silver markings. As I was walking out of the store, holding my cat, I felt my fathers hand go stiff in mine as he tightened his grip. I looked at his face and an expression I had never seen before was on it, a look of pure hate. Through a grimace I heard him say a single word 'Malfoy', he said it like it left a bad taste in his mouth. This, of course, was the first I had heard of this, not understanding I looked at my mother. She just smiled at me before looking at my father and rolling her eyes. Scanning the ally for what my father was staring at I found three people, a man, who looked about my father's age, was wearing the same grimace and also clutching the had of a child who looked about my age. Both of them had light blond hair, almost white. The third was a young woman, she had dark brown hair and waved to my mother, looking apologetically at her. My mother smiled and started walking towards her, my father grabbed her wrist with one of his hands, the other still firmly locked onto mine.
"Ginny, don't!"
"Oh please, Harry come on, get over it. We were kids, Harry, kids! The only reason Draco acted like that was because of his father, you and I both know how Lucius treated him."
A shiver ran up my fathers spine. Before he continued, just as stubbornly as before.
"Well, I don't see Lucius now, what reason has he got to act like this now then?"
My mother flushed scarlet with annoyance and tugged her arm out of this grip.
"Come on, stop being such an arrogant baby! Set an example for Lily and just go over there!"
She stormed off towards the woman.
"When I was 'arrogant baby' I still defeated Voldemort." I heard him mutter.
I laughed, he looked at me, shocked.
"Um, don't tell your mother I said that." He said, before walking off after my mother.
He walked up to the blond man and glared at him, the blond man glared right back at him. It was like they were having a silent conversation that only they could hear. My father opened his mouth to speak but my mother cut in, speaking in a very low voice.
"What are you looking at Malfoy?"
A blush crept up my fathers face. Without missing a beat the dark-haired woman followed my mother and spoke in the same deep voice.
"Just your ugly face Potter!"
A red blush crept up the blond man's face. My mother opened her mouth again.
"I would say the same, Malfoy, but you make a pretty good weasel."
Father and blond man where now hiding their faces behind whatever was closest. My mother and the woman then yelled , at the same time:
"My Father will hear about this!"
They cracked up in hysterical laughter, tears rolling down their faces. Confused, I looked at the boy, he seemed just as lost as I was. My father came out from behind his hand, his face a shade of scarlet that put the Gryffindor banner to shame and cleared his throat. The blond man lowered his robe from his face and looked at my father. My mother and the woman were still laughing, but my father paid no attention to them.
"Look, Draco, I was thinking that maybe now we are older and understand each other we can move on? And maybe start again?"
"What are you trying to say?"
My father held out his hand.
"Friends?"
The blond man gasped and then, after a pause, smiled and nodded, shaking his hand. My father looked at the woman and my mother, still in hysterics.
"Um, maybe we should move somewhere else and let these two finish?"
"Agreed," he said. Then looked at the boy. "Stryker, go and tell your mother I'll be in the leaky Coldren with Harry."
The boy nodded and let go of Draco's hand. My father looked at me and gestured for me to do the same. I walked up to my mother and told her where father was going. She just nodded and continued to laugh. I looked at the boy who seemed to get the same reaction from his mother.
"Your name was Stryker right?"
"Yeah."
"Bazaar name isn't it?"
He shrugged.
"What do you expect from I guy who is literally called 'dragon'."
I smiled, and from that moment on I knew I liked this guy.
