A tapped it on my bed frame and shakey rushed writing came out of the tip.
'Stryker Malfoy to the hospital wing, now."
Before I could act Matt came into view.
"You too! Must be serious!" He yelled.
Then he ran off.
Straight away I jumped up, forgetting everything else and running out of the Common room, making sure to grab my robes on the way out, just in case.
By the time I reached the hospital wing I was sweating and panting, some first day this turned out to be. Then I saw something that made me want to faint. Bleach blond hair, two heads of it, facing away from me and looking at the still unconscious Lily. Matt's parents, Hermione and Ron were also there. Ron was awkwardly standing next to Harry, every now and then glancing sideways at him and Hermione was standing at the head of Lily's bed with Ginny, but I hardly noticed any of this. I ran back out of the ward. As I was leaving I heard Hermione ask Matt where I was. I ran towards the closest mirror. I attempted used my hands to fix my wild hair, then remembering magic (duah.) I took out my wand and said a spell, pointing it at my hair. Immediately my messy, tangled hair became flattened and it looked like someone had run gel through it with a comb. I almost made myself sick thinking about how much I looked like my father from his school photos. I pulled my robes on, straightened them and fixed my tie. I then took a deep breath and walked back into the hospital wing. I stood, only a step away from my father. Ignoring Lucius, I suppressed a smile and hugged him from behind. I felt him tenses in surprise and turn around. I saw a tear in the corner of his eye, but he had a smile on his face.
"Dad, are you crying?" I asked in mock horror.
"N-no, you are." He replied, choked.
I heard my grandfather clear his throat and my father dropped his arms and looked away. Lucius sneered at me and spoke in a grave voice.
"It would do for both of you to learn your places." He moved to pick some cat fur off my robes. "Disgusting, learn to present yourself, or you will bring shame to the family name."
Harry seemed to have heard the last comment and something inside him snapped.
"Lucius, what the hell are you even doing here! I came to be with my little girl, and Ron and Hermione came to support me and my wife and check on Matt! Draco came to check on Stryker and was actually worried about Lily because he, unlike you is a decent human being!"
Lucius just let the words wash over him, he looked straight past Harry as though very bored by the whole thing. Then he sneered and spoke in a monotone voice.
"Well Potter, I, unlike you, can keep my child perfectly safe. Whereas you couldn't even keep her out of the hospital wing for one day."
Harry yelled in anger and out of frustration of being able to do nothing, he felt so useless and tensions were running high. He pulled out his wand and pointed it at Lucius. My father and I stepped back, both of us wishing we had the nerve to join Harry. Lucius pulled his own wand out of his robes and aimed it straight back at Harry. Ginny, Hermione and Ron were fast to act, they all had their wands out, pointed straight at Lucius, before I could blink. Everyone was so caught up that they didn't notice the headmistress until she was marching up to them, her wand still in her robes and a stern look on her face.
"Ok, Malfoy, Potter! I think that's quite enough!" She exclaimed, seriously.
I opened my mouth to protest, what did I do? Then I realised that she probably meant Harry and Lucius. Merlin, this is weird. She continued to speak.
"I don't know why you're all here anyway, heavens, it's not like the child is dying or anything. The bleeding has stopped and she'll be awake in a few days!"
"What!" Exclaimed Harry and Ginny at the same time.
"You weren't aware?" Asked the headmistress, raising her eyebrows.
Just then the tall, young wizard that ran the hospital ward came into view. He was hiding behind the headmistress, looking wide-eyed at the drawn wands.
"I tried to tell them, but as soon as I knew, everyone else arrived and then they drew their wands. And well...this."
The headmistress was still unfazed and was acting like this happened every day.
"Well then, Mr and Mrs Potter, you can stay with her for a while if you want, there is no point in sending you back home. But I think the rest of you should say goodbye to your children, as they are perfectly fine and leave."
Lucius made a disgusted sound in his throat.
"Yes, you too Lucius." She added.
He looked like someone had called him a bad word then dropped a cockroach into his best glass of wine before he was going to drink it. He spoke in the same grave voice, through now taking a long pause between words.
"Who do you think you are. Do you know who you are talking to?"
The headmistress just smiled sweetly and casualty answered as if she was telling him her favourite colour.
"I, am Professor Juliette Dumbledore, my (sai tell me the relation) died for what he believed in and left me in charge. You, Sir, are Lucius Malfoy, an escaped Death Eater. You probably bought your freedom but you are not ever welcome in my school or at 9 and 3 quarters. You have the ministry under your thumb but, just in case you could tell, my (relation?) didn't listen to the ministry, and I have full intentions of following in his footsteps! I am a very dangerous woman and I will not hesitate to hurt you, Lucius. That is who I am."
Lucius looked taken back and thrown off guard by what she had said.
"Well," He spluttered, "I think I should be going now, come along Draco."
My father looked at me, regret in his eyes, and made to follow after Lucius.
"Actually Lucius," The headmistress interrupted, "I think Draco wants to say goodbye to his son, you can go without him."
There was no reply, Lucius made another disgusted sound and then walked away.
My father inclined his head to her, silently thanking her, she did the same back before smiling and walking over to Ron and Ginny who were talking to Matt. My dad turned towards me and dropped down, so he was my height.
"Did you get my letter?" He asked.
"Yeah dad, thanks a lot, I appreciate you doing that for me."
My father smiled sadly.
"Look I'm sorry that I can't do more, I want a better life for you, a better childhood then I had. I hope that this place can offer you some refuge and maybe some hope. It's a good school and you've got a fine headmistress, might even be better than the last one. I'm sorry that I can't protect you anymore then this, but it will get better. I promise."
He hugged me, tears in his eyes again and left.

That was the only interesting thing that happened at Hogwarts for the rest of the year. Eventually, Lily got better and came out of the ward. She told me that Sai lost it when she heard Harry was here and that she didn't get to meet him. I stayed at Lily's during the summer and tried to ignore my fathers' cuts and bruises when he spoke to me through the fireplace. All year my fathers' words wrang around my head, 'it will get better, I promise.' And it did get better, at last until the last year of Hogwarts, that was the year Lily found out.
